“Great stay”
Reviewed 5 July 2012

We recently had the chance to stay at the Cambria Suite in Traverse City, which is a city not shy on a variety of places to stay. I think this is a recent addition to TC. It is convieniently located on Front Street. It's new, clean, modern but not cold. friendly and helpful front desk staff. Food is available 24 hours through a prepackaged bar in the dining area. They have a bar/ dining area, and a hot breakfast buffet for an additional charge. The rooms are comfortable, clean and divided into a work and sleep area. Large flat screen TVs (2), comfortable beads with lots of pillows. Quiet room. Bathroom is large and stylish. Bath products are good quality from Bath and Bodyworks, not that generic stuff. Nice work out area, patio, and small pool with available handicap lifts for the pool. A bit more expensive, but a very nice place.

Room Tip: If you want it really quiet, aske for a roo. Away from the main street.

We had been booked by our travel agent into the Best Western next store to the Cambria Suites. After checking in and having lunch, we decided to look elsewhere for something more appropriate for our family. The Cambria Suites was next door; it looked much newer, and definitely more inviting. So we moved there. The suites were nice, but the air conditioning unit was loud. I was surprised that our drinking glasses were not changed out for clean glasses after the first night. The desk staff was helpful with their recommendations. The pool and hot tub were nice for our nights following sight-seeing. Next time, however, I think I will try one of the hotels along the water. Some of the hotels had incredible views of the lake. Overall, we were happy that we were able to move there and had a nice stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor so you are not so close to the parking lot.

We stayed here two weeks ago. Picked it because it was the highest reviewed hotel in TC. It was very nice - clean, great amenities, excellent service and good central location. However, if you are looking for a place where you can enjoy relaxing outside, this is not the place for you. There are no balconies, and the only grassy area for sitting ouside is a smoking area in the middle of the parking lot with a few old lawn chairs. I had hoped it would be closer to the bay. I should have checked more closely. Next time I will pick one of the hotels right on the bay, even though they are not rated as high.

Clean. Great location. Terrific service. Excellent breakfasts (try the custom omelettes). This is an extraordinarily run hotel on par with much more expensive properties elsewhere. Have stayed there multiple times and will return.

Room Tip: 312 is a double suite: Quiet, roomy.

This is a very nice hotel. It is clean and well maintained. It appears to be much newer than some of the 70's era motels nearby. The suites have 2 flat screen tvs and are tastefully decorated in a contemporary style. There is non of that old looking cheesy furniture and upholstry that you ususally see in mid-price hotels. The lobby is equally tasteful and contemporary.

The service at the front desk was excellent. Check-in and check-out were quick and painless. The location is only 2 miles from the downtown area.

The only inconvenience we had was because our suite was relatively close to the lobby we could here lobby noices at night.

We were quite impressed with Cambria Suites. The next time we go to Traverse City we will only go to Cambria Suites unless they have no vacancy.

Room Tip: The rooms in the short wing of the hotel are closer to the lobby so you can hear lobby noise.

We had a bit of a snafu when we checked in. I had booked throught the Choice Hotels 800 number (don't do that!). I had requested a top floor room at the end of the hall (we are very light sleepers). When we got there the reservation was for an upgraded suite, of which they onliy had two and the one on the third floor had someone in it. The front desk was very helpful in finding us another room, which took some time given the hotel was fully booked. Our room was on the top floor and very clean and spacious. For only a 2 year old hotel, they could have built it with more soundproofing between the rooms. While it was quiet when we were sleeping, the people in the room next to us (or person as we were told) had visitors, one of which "thumped" around and it was distracting when we were trying to read. I would not recommend the $8,95 buffet breafkast. Was a bit pricey for what we got. We went to a local place down the road the second day and was much better for the same price. All in all, we would stay here again, just call the hotel directlyl to book.

I stayed at Cambria Suites and it was exactly what I anticipated from reading the reviews on TA, comfort and simple elegance. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room decor was nice. Also, the bathroom was a nice size with a huge shower. The front desk staff were very helpful in directing me to various tourism locations. Overall my stay at this location was wonderful.
