“A up close view of how to run a distillery.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2013

The tour was informative. The samples were very educational. If you've done a brewery tour this is similar, but the differences are interesting. The location is in an industrial park so that's unexpected. We enjoyed every minute we were there. The mini-barrel is a must have.

Hi Brian
Thanks for finding our distillery and taking time to write a review. We enjoy touring our production area and offering information on how we produce our spirits. We also just ordered a good supply of the mini barrels for the holiday season and should not run out like we did last Christmas season.
Cheers
Kent

“Hidden Treasure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2013

A great little place in an out of the way area. Perry was a wonderful host. The time of day was a little off, so we did not get a tour. But got some great information and tasting was fun! Be sure to find your way to this neat business.

Hello and thanks for coming in to see us and talk to Perry. He does a great job with our visitors and makes everyone feel right at home here. We do limit tours to just three days because of production demands. Please come back to tour the distillery on Thursday, Friday or Saturdays.
Cheers

“Nice place to check out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2013 via mobile

We had a very enjoyable experience when we were there for a tour recently. The staff who conducted the tour was welcoming, and the tour was informative. We ordered a cocktail while there and it was wonderful. Also enjoyed tasting a sample of their vodka. Nice place!

“Great fun and exceptionally friendly owner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2013

We stopped by about 20 minutes before they were set to close and the owner actually stayed late to chat with us. The tasting counter is set up nicely so that you get one free and then you pay a dollar for the other tastes. This is more generous that most distilleries; we're from Kentucky, and most distilleries there give you two tastes only, period. My husband is a bourbon blogger and is really into the stuff, so he tried the bourbon and the whiskies and said they are very good. I loved the cherry whiskey, as it's not overwhelming like some of the mass market flavored spirits (like Red Stag). We bought three bottles of that alone.

Tours are only on certain days, but the owner still took us back to the stills and showed us around. I heard him inviting other visitors to peek behind the door at the stills as well, so he wasn't doing it just because my husband blogs about bourbon. The gift shop offers a nice selection of products like glasses and shirts, and for very reasonable prices. They also produce a nice selection of vodkas, and though I don't generally like vodka I have to say that the cherry vodka is very good.

We bought about $400 worth of stuff between there and the Traverse City tasting room, so it's obvious that we liked it! If you like spirits, then try to stop by and taste their good! There's also a tasting room at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons (Black Star Farms) and you can try and buy a selection there as well.

Thanks for stopping in and comparing our whiskey products to what you enjoy at home. We hope to have new spirits in the future and something new to taste if you are able to stop in next year and see us. As a bourbon blogger you taste many different whiskey products and we are please you enjoyed our bourbon. Everything is made here at the distillery as we are a grain to bottle distiller.
Thanks again for taking time to review the distillery.
Cheers
