Owner description: Chateau Chantal is a unique development that combines a winery, vineyards, bed and breakfast, residence, six private home sites, and winding roads, all of which combine to create an experience in Northern Hospitality. The 65 acre site sits high atop a ridge 12 miles north of Traverse City, Michigan on the beautiful and historic Old Mission Peninsula. Chateau Chantal crafts many styles of wine, allowing the grape to dictate the style. The location’s unparalleled views and outstanding staff play host to B&B activities, cooking classes, wine education opportunities, Tapas Tours, conferences and meetings, small weddings, and friendly regional wine events.

Set on a hilltop overlooking vineyards and Grand Traverse Bay, this is a favorite place for meetings, weddings and wine tasting. Just a couple of bucks will get you half a dozen tastes, and that's deducted after wine purchases. You can also buy wine by the glass, if a particular wine catches your fancy. Chateau Chantal is the outstanding winery and tasting room on the Mission Peninsula. Lots to choose from, and a lovely gift shop with local items.

They have definitely got the best view on the peninsula and the staff made us feel very welcome on the day of our visit. The patio is outstanding...little busy...but that's okay it is fall!

Searching for a winery or two to try after viewing the Old Mission Lighthouse, we normally would pass by the large, what we believed more commercial wineries, but we stopped at this one based on Trip Advisor reviews.....

That was a great decision. GOOD wines, great friendly staff and a deck overlooking the water with unbelievable views. We took the time for a glass of wine on a beautiful day and enjoyed every sip.

There are choices of many wineries, add this one to the "must do" list.

The scenery is beautiful here. The wines as a whole are good but not spectacular except for the Icewine that truly is spectacular. It just seems to melt in your mouth. The only reason i gave 4 stars vs 5 is the server I had was a dunce. She was slow and could not multi task. It took her 5 minutes to ring up someones cheese. I will be back though if for no other reason than that yummy icewine.

Beautiful surrounds. Plenty of wedding picture ops. Only tried the whites wines and sparklings and was not impressed.
