I was very impressed by the quality and planning that went into the TART trail system. Recently rode from the east side of Traverse City out to Suttons Bay, had breakfast, and rode back home. Trails are clean, well marked, and quite beautiful. Most of the trail section that I traveled was rather flat - good for people of all skill levels.

The TART is a wonderful statement about the local community, who value getting outside, be it biking, walking, X-country skiing, or skating. The trails are a great way to be outdoors, go slower than driving and appreciate the area. Great way to do outdoor activities with friends and family. We cycled up to Sutton's Bay from TC for breakfast at Martha's restaurant which was also terrific. Gentle ride, but well worth it.

My friend and I did the ride from Traverse City to Sutton's Bay on an oddly-warm March 2012 day. We were amazed by the views-we felt like we were biking through Napa Valley or French wine country at times! The ride was pretty flat and easy, with the exception of a few dirt trail parts that can get muddy after a rain. We rented "old-fashioned" bikes in TC and they were great for the ride. If you have a mountain bike, the ride will be even easier on those dirt path sections. A must do for all in the TC area!

Wanted a nice bike ride while on vacation and this well maintained 14-mile trail between TC and Sutton's Bay was perfect. It is not too hilly so you won't kill yourself. While it has very beautiful senery, realize it is more farm & woods senery, if you want a lot of views of beach and blue water, this is not it. We enjoyed passing Black Star farms pear orchard (check out how they get full grown pears in their brandy bottles!). We actually travelled back to Sutton's Bay on the road that hugs the water so we could also see the blue water views. The road has wide enough burms for bikes if you don't mind the traffic.

We biked the Leelanau Trail from Cherry Bend Rd (TC) to Suttons Bay, had lunch and rode back, 28 miles round trip. Trail was very well maintained and marked. It was a beautiful, peaceful ride.
