We stayed 3 nights Sunday through Wednesday with two small children. Our room was nice and clean with plenty of space. Our room wasn't as expensive ($139/nt) as some previous reviewers commented because it overlooked the courtyard and we did not stay on a Friday or Saturday.
The breakfast room did get crowded in the morning, but the food was fresh and the room was kept clean. They also set up an extra Coffee station in the hallway for convienence.
The staff was very nice and accomodating, especially Katie at the front desk.

The Beach is awesome for small children. The water was crystal clear, warm, and very shallow for about 100 yards off shore. The beach was groomed every morning and had plenty of hotel supplied towels, chairs, loungers and umbrellas.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights based upon recent reviewers. Let me first write the good points. Location is fine, with beach access directly from the hotel. The rooms are clean . The hotel provide plenty of longers at the beach with towels, which is great.

BUT... sadly there are many negative points about this Hotel that frankly should be clearly noted before you book.

1. The price per night : its totally nuts.. way over priced for what they offer. You can stay for half the price
( which we only found out later ) at plenty of hotels along the coast.

2. The Free Breakfast : Its a joke ! If this would be a Motel for $69 / night then I could understand serving this type of breakfast. But NOT at these crazy prices There is NO service.. You stand in a line, and take from a large pile the cheapest plastic plates you can imagine, with plastic knives. There is a choice of 3 cereals and some awful pastries and dried out panckaes , a few pieces iof fruit and thats it ! Coffee ... ughhh one taste and I gave up there and then

3. Luggage : Yes be prepared to have a work out,., You are expected to bring your own luggage to your room, though they do provide trolleys... Again this would not be a problem for a Motel price per night, but they charge here top dollar

4. Hotel Reception : They are at their most efficient when it comes to charging your credit card.. they obviously have lots of cancellations as they have a very strict policy of cancelling and you paying the full price. Otherwise the Reception staff are OK

Room Tip: Best rooms are facing the sea, BUT you will be charged a kings ransom .

I have been going to Traverse City every summer for over 30 years now and this place is our new favorite spot. Located right on East Bay this place has it all. They have the nicest beach, plenty of beach chairs, and are close to any water sport you could want. Their breakfast buffet has all the standards plus pancakes which was a nice touch. The rooms are standard but if you are lucky enough to get a bayside room, great views from balcony. While we have spent the last 2 years in the condos located right next to the hotel, we would not hesitate staying in the standard rooms again. Finally, I do have to point out the manger here as he is by far the hardest working guy in Traverse City. I have no idea how he does but he is truly an asset to this place and only helps improve everyone's vacation.

The room was decent with cruddy beds, loud air conditioner. For the price we paid - $320.00 per night we could propably spent two nights in Jamaica - all inclusive!!! Breakfast was terrible, too busy with the line to get food, people were standing in line outside the room. In the evening we couldn't find a place to park our car so they told us to park it on the other side of a street!!! Never again!!!

We usually visit Grand Beach 3 or 4 times a year and have been doing so for about 15 years. We have always been very happy. Our last visit was July 3 - July 14, 2012. Tony Pappas always treats everyone as though they are VIP's. All the staff has always been very cordial. Because we always tell everyone we know, many of our friends have visited and have had the same great experience and treatment as well. I'm sure we will be returning with friends for many years to come

The room was only decent with cruddy beds with only two pillows each, loud air conditioner, but still a GREAT view from the balcony- if your room is overlooking the beach. Breakfast was okay nothing fancy with good coffee, but WAY too busy with the line to get food flowing outside the room. The location is great however with the beautiful beach, good shops, and great food to go to in Traverse city, and there is even a nice place across the street with things like go-carts, mini-golf, and zipline. The beach is nice with parasailing, jet skis, and swimming. Definetely would consider going back.

Room Tip: Make sure it overlooks the beach for sure!

The beach was fabulous! We stayed for a week and enjoyed just simply hanging out. I wished there was fire pit and a bar to make it a real resort. The bed was not comfortable and only 2 pillows in each bed with worn out sheets and covers. Breakfast area was too small and same boiled egg each day. Staff was okay except for the young man who was not friendly when we booked to use jet ski. I can tell he was not too happy working that day (Tuesday 7/24). Tony, the manager was also unfriendly and not accomodating. You guys need a vacation!
