“Nicest stay of my life, and I'm in my sixties”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

Owner of the Grand Traverse Chateau Inn should be extremely proud of their offerings. In fact they could take "Traverse" out of the name and just call it Grand Chateau Inn, because that's what it truly is, grand. My wife and I, along with a bunch of our friends, rented the entire inn, six rooms. Having the place to ourselves was really nice, but the inn is plenty spacious to be able to comfortably share it with others.

The individual sleeping rooms were very spacious with great views of the vineyards; some with views of the bay between the peninsulas. Rooms were modern, clean and well equipped with flat screen TV's, microwave oven, mini refrigerator (stocked with juices) hair dryer, makeup mirror & etc. There was a very nice and spacious seating area with couch and chair. Popcorn and granola bars were also provided for a late-night snack as well as a complimentary bottle of wine of your choosing each morning. Yes, the bed was very comfortable too.

As for the common areas of the inn, extremely spacious and comfortable. Two very large great rooms, each with a working fireplace, made it possible to spread out if desired but large enough to each accommodate our entire group room. Two additional enclosed rooms with full length windows and door walls leading to a large deck were great for smaller groups and a great place to sip morning coffee or tea or a glass of wine later in the day. We didn't use the well equipped exercise room (with sauna), but it was there if you cared to use it. The dining room was again very large with a single table that would comfortably seat twenty or so.

The do-iit-yourself breakfast (in another well-equipped and spacious room) had plenty of choices including fresh cut fruit, waffles, bacon, sausage, quiche, bagels and cream cheese, breakfast burritos, hash brown potato patties ... ok I know I'm missing some things here. What a great start for the day.

The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating. We hardly ever saw the housekeeping staff but the rooms got cleaned and fresh coffee kept appearing with us never knowing exactly how or when it was done.

I can't say enough about how wonderful our weekend stay was. Yes, I would do it again and again and again. I felt the value was more than worth the cost and find it hard to believe one could find a better stay anywhere.

Room Tip: All six rooms were great. Want a view of water? I believe rooms 1-3; ask when you make reservations...

Not only is the Winery beautiful, but the property and Inn is wonderful. A complimentary bottle of wine awaits you each evening, and a wide array of breakfast food is ready for you in the morning. The location is perfect for adults, away from the touristy waterfront, but still close enough to enjoy all the convenient attractions. We really enjoyed our view of the neighboring cherry orchard, and had a great time lounging in the common areas. Planning a return trip, soon!

Room Tip: With only six rooms at the inn, you can't go wrong!

On Old Mission Peninsula for a weekend of wine tasting with another couple, we loved staying at the inn! Located behind the winery, the inn is quiet and well-appointed. The rooms are spacious and clean, the common areas are large and comfortable. The staff wants you to make yourself at home as this is an inn, not a bed and breakfast. From the bottle of wine in our room each night, to the "help yourself" breakfast, and lovely views, we could not have been more pleased.

Room Tip: Rooms 1-3 have a view of the bay, 4-6 a vineyard view. All have their own balconies.

Our party of 4 had 2 adjacent rooms, for one night. The kitchen was well stocked for breakfast. The fitness room was very large and well-appointed. The bottle of wine with the room was a nice touch too, but hey, it's a winery after all.

The only drawbacks were the small ice maker in the fridge to be shared by all the guests, and no individual thermostats in each room, and our room was quite hot while the other room was just right.

The winery tour was interesting, and the tasting is free. The are also a few nice restaurants nearby, no need to go into Traverse City.

We received a two day stay at the Inn from our kids. We had a flawless stay. The facilities are impeccable and beautifully maintained. The staff were very polite and knowledgeable. We could not say a bad thing about or stay. Nice rooms, grounds and a great bottle of wine as a gift each night. We went to 6 different wineries on the Peninsula and actually liked this the best. We prefer sweet wines and they had the best. This was the only one of the wineries that we went to that gave you 6 Free tastes. All the others charged for it. We shared the Inn with both young couples and older ones. There were no children present and was a very quiet and comfortable rest.

Being from Grand Rapids, but living in Texas, I booked my honeymoon here based on reviews, pictures, and price. I couldn't have been happier. It was the exact location my wife requested (although she never was told where we were going). She wanted quiet, small, no kids. I wanted modern, clean, and spacious. This place was great. She commented how much the hills and view reminded her of travels in New Zealand. The after hours check-in was easy (our names on an envelope with room assignment) and the room was just fabulous. There was a comfy queen bed, couch and table, nice balcony, and sink, microwave, and fridge. And the bottle of wine each night! We loved it. The continental breakfast was full, stocked, original, and fresh. They even served Biggby coffee. This place was just ideal for our honeymoon. It was a perfect retreat from the hectic season that ran up to it. We plan on returning here regularly in married life.

Room Tip: There are only 8 rooms. I think they're all similar and equally set up. Ours was room 4 and righ...

My husband and I stayed here April 26-29 (Friday-Monday) for a relaxing getaway. Check in was smooth (go to a small office behind the main winery/tasting room) and getting settled into the room was a breeze. We were greeted at the inn (just down the hill from the winery, all in walking distance) by a lovely young lady who showed us to our room, gave us the run-down on how things worked, and gave a us a tour of the house. Our room was great, the view perfect. Great having a balcony (all rooms have one), made for nice lunches. There is a small fridge, sink, coffee maker, microwave in the room-all clean. Breakfast is self-serve, which some may not like, but we did not mind. You just have to pick up after yourself a bit as a courtesy to others. Two mornings were were the only ones in the breakfast room which was nice as you are getting used to where things are and how much mix to pour in the waffle maker without overflowing! Breakfast foods were small quiches, fruit plate, pastries, cereal, bagels, juices, coffee. Check the bottom freezer for extras to heat up too. A bottle of wine is included with each room night-just make your selection and let housekeeping know. House was quite, however housekeeping staff was a bit noisy one day-we were the only ones there so maybe they thought we took off for the day. Walls are thin as this was a house, so if you had some noisy people next to you could be a problem. The winery and all staff there were great and treated us well. Great at explaining the wines! Great place, hope to make it back again soon!
