We went as a family. Soup was good and timely. The entrees were timely as well, but very disappointing. One entree was made fine, just wasn't the right choice for that person. The other two were not good. The chicken in light sauce had zero flavor. The orange chicken coating was soggy and the sauce also had little flavor. Just not very good all around.

We have eaten at this place for years through several ownership changes. Most recent visit was uninspired. Sunday late afternoon, not busy. Servers wearing casual jeans were not friendly or seemed to care.. No music, a small detail but it makes one aware of the extra effort or lack of. managment puts into their place. No sushii bar. The ragoons were okay but had a bitter oil taste. Almond chicken was over cooked and dry. More like deep fried chicken . Heard other dinners asking waitress about error in bill. She admitted adding it wrong, but would not change total which was in Bamboo Gardens favor. For $3 it would have been better to accept their mistake. Never offered bag or extra condoments for take home food. Guess we will keep missing the days of excellent sushi and servers in tuxs who knew how to make dinning a happy memorable experience. Sad to say we won't be returning soon..

We recently visited Bamboo Garden for lunch. The fried rice had a definite off taste - like it was old and stale, and the texture was gritty. The Lo-Mein I had was in some kind of weird peanut butter and molasses sauce, and the noodles were overcooked, giving them a soft and mushy texture that I couldn't even eat.
We also had the hot and sour soup, which was very good, crab ragoons, which were cold and tough, and the egg rolls, which spent way too much time in the deep fat fryer - very crispy and tasting like old cooking oil.
We were very surprised by the low quality, as we have eaten at this establishment before.
Maybe the cook had a bad day, but we won't be returning to Bamboo Garden in the near future.

The egg roll was strange, filled with cabbage and some chicken. The cashew chicken had a lot of veggies and chicken, but there was nothing special about the sauce. Might try another dish another time, but not too soon. Traverse City has quite a few Asian restaurants, but we have yet to find one we like!

Wonderful coconut curry dishes. Good pad Thai and Thom Kha soup. The seafood seemed pre-frozen and strong (but edible, just not great) The ginger beef has nice flavor but little tough. We've eaten in and gotten take out. You get much bigger portions when you eat in - and that's a bit frustrating as on week nights we'd like to get take out more often and they do not have beer/wine which we prefer when dining in.
