This was a very depressing room. They had 4 60 watt bulbs in the room. All the furniture was dark color so that did not help. To read a map you had to stand underneath a lamp or open the curtains. This was a very depressing place for us. We were glad to get out.

One bulb was burnt out so we only had 3 bulbs. We asked for another bulb and said it was soooo dark in our room. They gave us another 60 watt bulb. I asked if they had others complain of the dark rooms and they said yes. But the staff could only give 60 watt bulbs. The lighting was so bad and the room was small. What a miserable place. They were packed full because it was the busy season.

Stay any where but here. I would have gladly moved to another hotel, but I had already paid.

For a truly dreary place, stay here. We had to ask for soap, towels, wash clothes, etc, every day. And we were only using one per person.

We love to come to Traverse City for all that it has, except for one thing: it (usually) has no bargain rooms in the summertime. We just happened to find one this time around.

We came up for a three-night stay, which was shortened to only two nights, due to really foul Michigan (UK) weather! However, this lodging was one of our bright spots of our brief trip.

Starting with location, it really is fairly convenient to everything. About 1.5 miles to downtown and a great beach, maybe five miles to the casino (if you're into that sort of thing!), etc. We are cyclists, and this place was almost ideally located. It is a short (.25 mile) ride down a fairly safe street to reach the TART network of trails. Once on there, you can bike SAFELY for miles and miles. Traverse City does this right!

Everyone at the Travelodge was great, especially Kelly at check-in. She went out of her way to let us know of great places to eat, even getting online to look up a place that wasn't in the standard "area eating guide".

The room was smallish, but we expected that. It is an old, two-story motor lodge, simple as that. That said, we still made room for our two gigantic suitcases, our two bikes, and a couple of miscellaneous bags without too much effort. (I should also note that we are both shorter than average and very athletic; if you are larger, you might find your experience quite different.)

The bed was a bit too soft for my liking, but definitely not uncomfortable or worn out. Had no problem falling asleep on it.

The HVAC system was awesome, for an individual-room floor/wall unit. It kept the room comfortably cool without the damp feeling you sometimes get from these, and most importantly to us, you could select from three fan speeds, which provided constant white-noise, even when the AC tripped off. In an older facility, with exterior entrances, this is quite important. Other than one incident at 4:30 in the morning, we were not bothered by other guests, and honestly, with the noise from this person, we would have heard it in most any hotel.

Shower had very good water pressure and a nice, easy-to-use 7-position shower head.

Breakfast was limited, but they only advertised continental breakfast, so the fact that they even had waffle makers was a surprise. The only real concern here was, there is very little sitting area. The hotel was nowhere near capacity when we stayed, and yet the room was full. There IS a banquet room on the 2nd floor, so I'm not sure if they would send people up there, if needed.

At checkout, despite the fact that we were leaving a day early, the staff was cheerful and was more concerned about our trip than their lost revenue. Thanks, Charity and Grace!

About the only real concern I have is the curtain in the room. Since these rooms face out, with people walking by, they should be large enough to cover ALL of the window without any special tricks. Ours did not. We were able to make it work, but the guest shouldn't have to do this.

When most decent places are charging between $150 and $300 per night for a standard room, $97 per night was a steal for a clean, comfortable room with friendly people AND breakfast! As I said, we are avid athletes. We come to town to swim, bike, run, kayak, etc. We need a clean room to sleep in. Travelodge TC did not disappoint!

Room Tip: We stayed in the very back, out by the tennis court. No traffic noise, whatsoever. If it's ava...

I was very excited about staying here for 4 days again after my first experience in August 2013. We had a great room last year, (in the front section) which contained a microwave and a refrigerator. Made reservations 5 months in advance for this years trip, with high hopes of another great stay. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to our expectations. Start with being placed in a room way in the back, that seems to have been forgotten when rooms were upgraded. I have to say it was fairly quiet back there, but we never inquired or asked for a "quiet room". Dark colors, poor lighting and a toilet seat ready to fall off, and a non-working ventilation fan in the bathroom. Reported noth of these the next morning, receiving assurances both would be fixed. Toilet seat was fixed, fan was not. Found out a day later none of the fans "along that back section of the hotel work". Dissapointing after being told they would report it to maintenance. Next day, we return very late after a full days events only to find the room was not made up. Went to the desk to report this, and there was no explanation. We had departed about 9:30 AM that morning and did not have the "Do Not Disturb" tag out, no reason forthis to have happened. No offer made to provide or change bed lined, was given a full set of towels for 3 and an apology. Staff was friendly and courteous, but I thought they cound have dome more to correct the issues we encountered and reported. I was told that with future reservations I could request a specific room, we may do that, along with confirming it has a fridge and microwave. Have to decide if we will go a 3rd round here or not.......

Room Tip: Consider rooms in the front of the hotel.

Awesome motel experience, staff could not have been more accommodating for our early check in of 4 rooms on various days due to my daughter's wedding.Rates were reasonable for the area. Rooms were clean, staff was professional and very personal, especially Shannon. She learned my name quickly and made me feel confident that she would do everything possible to accommodate our needs. The complimentary breakfast was perfect for us, and I liked coffee always being available. Traverse City is awesome! i loved walking downtown, and enjoyed their beaches. The Sleeping bear dunes are a must see, so fun to climb and the beauty is awesome! Thank you Shannon for everything you did to help me and my family have a wonderful stay. This is our second visit to your motel and I am sure we will be back!

Room Tip: Rooms are all close to parking, but choose first floor if handicapped.

Found Travelodge by mistake. Everything in T.C. was booked. Stopped to ask for help in finding a room. They had a room left so we took it. The rate was great. The room was clean and neat. The hotel is located perfectly as well. The staff really were friendly and knowledgeable. From now on we will always heck Travelodge first !!
