“Dont expect alot in room 223”
Reviewed 15 July 2007

Spent two nights here with my son for some golf at the nearby Grand Traverse Resort and it happened to be during the National Cherry Festival also. After a round of golf we came back in the evening to shower and were hoping to relax in the outside hot tub. The lever for the drain in the shower/tub, in the room, doesnt work and I had water up to my calves while I showered until i used my finger to pry open the plug. An informational sign in the room is also very misleading. it says adult swim from 10pm till 11pm. we got in the hot tub adjacent to the pool at 1005 and a manager came out and said the pool area, including the hot tub, is closed at 10pm. even tho there was nobody else there. I mentioned the sign in the room and she insisted on closing the pool and didnt know anything about a sign. Back in the room, the toilet wasnt bolted down very well and was like a rocking horse. The north stairwell to the second floor rooms isnt lit very well and could be an accident waiting to happen. The ice bin in the office, has a metal chain holding the plastic scoop, setting in the ice and that surely is not very sanitary, of course I dont think the management knows about that either. for the continental breakfast, there is one waffle iron so you have to wait your turn (there were 5 people in line waiting for that when I went to it.) not a bad place to get sleep but these are some things that could be looked at and changed or altered little by management for better hospitality.

  • Liked — good location between Resort golf and downtown
  • Disliked — above mentioned faults and pool closing so early

If you're looking for luxury than definitely pass up the Travelodge, if you're just looking for a place to stay, it's a decent choice. There was nothing remarkable about our stay here, the first room we were assigned had a cracked window, after two phone calls to the front desk, we were given a different room. The check-in area was very smoky and very run down. Staff was friendly but seemed scatterbrained. Our room was average, but fairly clean, there was a lot of noise from other rooms and outside. The pool area loooked nice.

  • Liked — Fairly reasonable price
  • Disliked — After seeing the check-in area, I thought I had made a big mistake, luckily the rooms aren't as bad as the front desk

We just stayed two nights at the Travel Lodge over Columbus Day weekend. We opted to spend less money on lodging so we could splurge at the wineries, restaurants and shops. We found our room to be very clean, comfortable and very quiet. A great value for the money. The front desk staff were all very courteous and helpful. Our last morning, there was a problem with hot water in our section of the building but the staff scrambled to move people to rooms that were not affected. I would definitely stay again.

  • Liked — clean, good location
  • Disliked — hot water problems
  • Tips/Secrets — don't miss Hanna restaurant or Traverse Bay Pie Co.!

This place was recommended when we couldn't get into where we wanted, just down the road. Since it was being renovated, they said people seemed to be satisfied with it. I'm sorry, a Travelodge is still a Travelodge. Never again. Renovations definitely didn't extend to the bathrooms and beds. UGH. We should have kept looking on our own. This is definitely what's wrong with a vacation you don't plan ahead - or don't take a laptop so you can check Trip Advisor!

This year my husband and I took 3 days and spent them in picturesque Traverse City. This year Traverse City celebrated 80 years of the National Cherry Festival, and what a week!
The week of Cherry Festival brings all ages to this little town stretching around two bays that lead into Lake Michigan. The Travel Lodge is minutes from the heart of Traverse City and every one was so nice and helpful with directions and things to do during your stay.

Two great lunch and dinner places are Luigi's pizzaria and cafe and Mabel's Resturant. Luigis makes great grinders, but offers coffee, smoothies, soups, sandwhiches, and of course, pizza. Mabel's Resturant offers sit down family dining with breakfast served all day long and home cooked faves such as roast beef, fried chicken and fresh fish. Mabel's is great for families and couples and grandparents too....

So, enjoy Traverse City any time, but Cherry Festival Week is the most special time of the year. It runs July 1st thru July 8th with Grand Finale Fireworks over the bay on Saturday night, the last day of the festival...oh, dont forget to buy cherry products from local farms and if you can make it, you can get it with cherries! Enjoy!

The price was great, as there were four of us to stay in Traverse City on short notice for a friend's wedding. This seems to be an old motel in the process of remodeling. Some of the rooms are much larger and nicer than the others. Some from our party found themselves with heaters that did not function, but the proprietors were quick to give them a different room. Our cable connection was bad, but as soon as we called the desk someone came to replace the cable cord and the problem was solved. The breakfast was wonderful, with self serve waffle makers, bagels with wide slot toasters available ( I hate cold bagels), cereal, muffins, good coffee.
As I said they are remodeling, so there are some problems, but they are quick to address them. Meanwhile, the low price is nice. It will no doubt go up when they finish the upgrades.
