We were there for a wedding. Although it was cool out, I think we had season prices, so it was about $180 per night for two relatively horrible beds. The furniture in the room was not quality (but the TV was okay). It seems that they use the term "Victorian" as an excuse to not update mattresses for decades. The view of the water is not that great. You can see land on every side. The pool is right in front of the checkout counter so basically nobody was using it. Almost every time we walked by the checkout counter, a worker would tell us to have a nice day, even if we were walking back and forth multiple times to get things out of the car (which is a long walk but that is okay). The workers seemed like freshmen in college, being underpaid. As I left, I actually found the manager and told her I was not impressed. By that point, I did not want to make a scene. I would never go to this hotel again for season prices.

Room Tip: The only thing that makes it a resort is you can walk out to the small water area in the back.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in late September. It was a great location for touring the wineries in both the Old Mission and Leelanau Peninsulas. It was also very conveniently located near downtown Traverse City. The staff was very friendly and efficient. We never had any problems during our stay. The breakfast buffet that was included with the room was quite good and better than other hotels we've stayed at in the past. We will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Bay front rooms offer a beautiful view

My husband and I spent our wedding night at the Bayshore Resort. We were busy with so many details that we forgot to book a room for ourselves until the Thursday night before our Saturday wedding. Consequently, our options were very limited. The ladies at the front desk were very nice when we arrived to check in between our wedding dinner and the reception which was held at a different location. We booked a suite that had a balcony overlooking the beach/bay, a fireplace and a spa tub in the center of the room. The decor was dated, but I suppose that's where the "charming" aspect came into play. The bed was very comfortable, although there could have been more pillows. The temperature in the room was hard to regulate, possibly because of the sheer size of it. We added the romance package - which was money well spent. The deluxe continental breakfast was fantastic - waffles, french toast, tons of fresh fruit, pancakes, yogurt, juice, etc. Overall, our room was large, charming and romantic - but somewhat overpriced.

Best "resort" on the beach in Traverse City. This is a very nice, modern, classy resort for Traverse City, many others out there but few actually have a decent beach, and theirs is above the rest. The Beach Haus on the east bay is great too, but this is more of what you would expect for the resort- vacation-winery region. You can walk anywhere from here, or travel to the wine regions from here also. And the rooms have spectactular views of Grand Traverse Bay, you could relax here for days, or a week. There are also many activities on the bay and beach to keep anyone busy. Don't forget to try the Lake Michigan Car Ferry from Ludington also if you're traveling via Wisconsin, the ship is 60 yrs old and the last steamship operating on the Great lakes.

Room Tip: get a higher floor if you want more privacy, but all the rooms have awesome views.

We wanted a beach hotel and we got it. Nice location, room was clean and comfortable however, that's all that recommends this hotel. While sitting out on the beach enjoying our own bottle of wine we brought with us, we were envying the hotel next door that had a beach bar and music. The next day I actually went next door to sit out at their beach bar and had lunch.
So, location of Bayshore is nice but there is no dining or bar available.

Got to try another hotel in Traverse City. Had only been in the Cherry Tree Inn and Suites. So I'd put this hotel right on par with Cherry Tree with actually maybe a touch higher simply because you can walk to all the shopping and restaurants downtown. And even though like the Cherry Tree the Bayshore has a 'pre-fabricated' almost Hampton Inn type feel, it is not as much as with the Cherry Tree Inn. OK, the decor is more 'victorian' and something you'd see in your grandmother's house or Las Vegas. But overall layout better and two elevators! Breakfast very good. I missed having the coffee maker and refrigerator I had at Cherry Tree Inn ... but maybe that was just my room here at the Bayshore. And obviously if you are attending something at the conference center next door, it is walking distance. Room was immaculate and front desk help great! Still want to try more hotels but for now, it's the Bayshore. And yes, prices during season are tough to pay but for water view, they all seem to get booked even at high prices.

The view was beautiful yesterday at Bayshore. The room was nice but actually 'just another hotel room'. One problem I found as I was going to fill out the comment card, it had already been filled out by a guest who had stayed in room 312 on September 1st - 16 days before us and no one ever picked it up! Why bother leaving them for people if you're not going to pick them up and turn them in? So I took it to the desk and told the girl - don't think she much cared. As far as breakfast, fruit was good but the donuts were at least a day old. Sorta dry and tasteless. There were so many other beautiful places in the area and had we known, we would have waiting and got a room when we got there. Nice trip for our 36th anniversary though.

Room Tip: Room 312 had a nice view of the bay but then, so did many other hotels down the street.
