“Great Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

We had a very enjoyable two day stay in the Captain's Quarters. The inn and the staff were great. They went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable and had everything you needed. We were celebrating my husbands birthday and they helped to make it special, Our room was located by its self on one side with its own balcony and was very quiet. The beach was less than a 1/2 block away. We would definitely return for another stay.

Room Tip: The Captains Quarters is large with a refrigerated wet bar, separate sitting area, king bed, jetted...

Hi Debkay,

We're glad to hear you enjoyed your stay in the Captain's Quarters. Many couples request the room because of the privacy, spacious room, and private balcony. Sometimes people enjoy it so much they don't want to leave the room and get carryout and eat in the room. There is a table and chairs, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, jacuzzi whirlpool tub and shower, TV, DVD player, and very large private balcony. Thank you for taking the time to comment on Trip Advisor and will look forward to seeing you in the fall or winter months ahead.

Regards,

Mary Ann

This was the second weekend stay at the Inn for my wife and I in two years. Both times were part of a Living Social deal, and both times we had a great weekend. The owners are very nice and accommodating. As many others have stated, the fresh cookies baked in the afternoon/evening are a delightful treat. The popcorn and wine in the afternoon is also a nice touch as it offers everyone staying at the Inn to converse with each other. The hot tub is a nice way to relax in the evening, especially if the weather is slightly chilly outside. Though we were unable to use the fireplace in our recent stay, they are a unique amenity you won't find elsewhere. We would definitely stay here again if we venture up for a wine tour, and I highly recommend it for a couple looking for a nice weekend away.

Hi Michael,

Thank you for writing such a wonderful review about the Inn. Our homemade cookies, muffins, and granola keep people returning to the Inn along with the delicious breakfasts. Just looking at the breakfast on our website and facebook makes me hungry. Many people have come to know the Inn through Living Social vouchers and have continued to come during the summer months. Don't forget the Procrastinator's Special during the weekdays during the summer. As of right now we are full until Labor Day and a couple of weekends in September, October, and November are booked. So don't wait until summer is over to book for the fall. Looking forward to your next stay with us.

Regards,

Mary Ann

Friend and I stayed 2 nights. We were provided gluten free cookies and breakfasts. Food was wonderfully prepared and fresh! The complementary dinner was also gluten free friendly at Timothy's.

Bed was decent in the Winter room and we both slept well. The hot tub always on was such a nice relaxing retreat after a long day shopping.

Room Tip: Winter room was lovely.

We had a wonderful time at the Inn at Union Pier!!!! What a wonderful bed and breakfast!!! Room was cozy and clean and all rooms have a Swedish fireplace which you put your own logs on. Our room had windows on 3 sides so very light. There is an outside Jacuzzi and they even provide swim trunks if you forgot your own. Towels also supplied. Coffee and tea are available all the time and wine and popcorn are served every evening in the comfortable living room. Breakfasts were out of this world----delicious, fresh, and colorful. Each room has their own breakfast table which we liked. My husband wasn't big on B & B's before this but actually very much enjoyed his time here and the Inn. Just steps away from the lake and to several restaurants. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously!!!!

Room Tip: The hosts are very good about recommending rooms and they are pictured on the website.

Hi S & J,

So glad you enjoyed your stay at The Inn at Union Pier and it was your very first one. The Swedish fireplaces are so unique in the winter ,but are shut down for the summer. Any chance you might want to come here for the summer? We have plenty of rooms during the week and are running last minute specials if you call on Sunday for the weekdays. Depending on availability you could get a really good deal. Looking forward to seeing you again and say hi to the people in Sycamore. We have a couple from there that travel this way a couple times a year.

Regards,

Mary Ann

My husband & I had a fabulous weekend getaway at this charming Inn over Easter wknd. The Inn was very peaceful & serene. We loved all the little touches that added up to a lot...like the daily home baked cookies provided throughout the day, evening popcorn & tasty wine each evening. Our favorite part of the wknd was using the complimentary bikes provided by the Inn to take a long & relaxing bike ride to Julian & Round Barn winery for their free wine tasting (part of our Living Social weekend package). We enjoyed the nicest spring temps, 60's & sunny all wknd long. We had such fun riding those vintage bikes all around the quaint town as well as took long peaceful walks along the beach each day we were were there. Saw such breathtaking sunsets! This was our 2nd visit to the Inn at Union Pier & it truly feels like we are coming back to visit w/ a favorite aunt & uncle in the country. That's how so very welcome Bill & Mary Ann made us feel. Love Union Pier Inn...great weekend getaway!! J&E W :)

Room Tip: Highly recommend the "Room with a View". Spent a lot of time on the large wrap around balc...

Hi J & E,

Thank you so much for the great review on Trip Advisor. We love spoiling our guests when they come to stay with us. We can see all the stress melt away as soon as they come through the door and head for the scrumptious homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. If they are lucky to be here on a Thursday afternoon, Sandy, our baker is making them fresh. Hope to see you again soon.

Mary Ann

We travel to the southwest Michigan wineries quite frequently and have not found a better place to stay. The food, rooms, atmosphere, and service are among the best. We will definitely return for another visit soon.

Hi A & C,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us back at the beginning of May. If you are looking for a weekend in August for the 15th & 16th we have 2 rooms in the Pier House that just opened up and all four rooms in the Cottage of the Four Seasons. By then the water should be warm and definitely the weather should be hot. There's still a lot of availability Sunday through Thursday and we're running specials during the week of when you want to come. Hope to see you again real soon.

Regards,

Mary Ann

Beautiful B&B with a gracious staff. The breakfast each day was incredible and the wine and homemade popcorn at 5:00 was an added treat! We loved the area and the restaurants also. Our room was so relaxing and inviting. Had a wonderful time and hope to visit again!

Thank you for taking the time to write a wonderful view about the Inn. It was nice talking to you and sorry you had to drive around for miles looking for a coffee shop. There was a Bigby coffee in St. Joe about 20 miles north you missed. :) Glad you didn't have to drive around on Sunday morning, but made coffee here at the Inn. Now you know we're here, we hope you will be coming to stay with us again. Have a great summer!

Mary Ann
