My friend had been talking about CAYA for months and we finally joined his family for a Saturday dinner. This place is a revelation for Commerce Township. Let's just say the restaurant choices are a bit lacking up here. CAYA is modern and classy, with friendly staff. The food was excellent. I had the brisket with the sweet potatoes on the side, and it was perfect. Prices are reasonable too.
We liked it so much, we decided to take my parents there the following Sunday for my Dad's birthday. Unfortunately after unloading 3 kids from the van and walking up to the front door, we were greeted with a "Sorry, we're closed for a private event" sign. Needless to say we were disappointed and frustrated and I haven't been back since. I understand restaurants have private parties, but they should section off the restaurant for large parties and leave some tables open for other clientele. Otherwise they're going to be losing customers because of the "I wonder if they'll be open?" question looming.
