We stayed in room 101, a handicap accessible room which was perfect for Mom. The room was spacious, clean and nicely appointed with an armchair. My husband relaxed for an hour and a half in it while using the free wifi, access to which they gave us upon registration. Mom and I went next door to visit the Tanger Outlet. If Mom were not mobility impaired, it would have been a very easy walk over and back. It's not a huge outlet mall, but we managed to find some good deals and picked up coupons at the front desk, a nice perk for an additional 20% off at selected stores. We scored 2 Coach purses! The hotel has a nice pool area with small attractive pool in an interior courtyard, also a whirlpool. Pool table, ice machine and pop machine in same area with plenty of tables to sit and relax. Pool towels leave a lot to be desired; we laughed about them being tea towels! We've never seen anything like them. We ordered pizza from G's (menu at front desk)...delicious and delivered hot! In the morning the only drawback was the 4 cup coffeemaker. My hubby walked to the nearby gas station to buy coffee and tea for the early wake up time. For breakfast the front desk gave us 25% off breakfast in the attached Lumberjack Restaurant. Breakfast was delicious and averaged $6 each after coupon + tip... not bad for an "order what you want breakfast." Nice gift shops in hotel lobby and in the restaurant. We'd stay here again in a heart beat!

Room Tip: Handicapped accessible room 101 was awesome!

I normally do not stay at Quality Inns, but this one is a little bit different. While a little worn, they are decorated in a cute woodsy theme which is atypical of these standard hotels. The beds are comfortable and the pool is fun for the kids. The rooms are well-decorated - ours had a nice flat screen TV and even had a new brown suede recliner... aside from that the rooms are basic with some scratched and dented furniture that needs replacing. Nevertheless, the rooms are clean and well-appointed. I see some other travelers have had some trouble with noise, but we used the fan for white noise in our room and never heard a thing.

We enjoyed our dinner and breakfast at the Lumberjack which is attached to the hotel. Kitchen was slow but the waitresses offered kind, friendly service and the meals were inexpensive and hearty. The service at the front desk was warm and accommodating to some special requests we had. This is a perfect, low-stress, low-cost, no-frills stop on a road trip in Michigan.

Room Tip: If you are concerned about noise, request a room that is away from the pool area and use the fan in your room for white noise.

Stayed here as a destination and was pleasantly surprised. Spur of the moment, my wife and I wanted an overnight getaway, so I booked a room here.

Left home Saturday AM, drove to Tony's Tacos in Standish for a delicious, authentic Mexican lunch, then up to Oscoda sightseeing, back to Standish for a short stop at the Eagles Landing Casino. (No luck, but fun) A short drive North on I-75 and we were checking into our room.
The hotel is clean, comfortable and has a cozy, "Up North" feel to it.

Front desk was friendly and very helpful.
We had booked a "Balcony" room, thinking it was an outside balcony, were the wife could have a quick smoke. Turned out that the balcony actually faces an inside pool area, which wouldn't work for us. The girl at the desk searched a bit and gladly found us a King room on the first floor, with a sliding door to the pool area.

The room was clean and comfortably appointed. Nice flat screen TV, desk to get some work done. King bed was comfortable, and a bit on the firm side. Bathroom was clean, modern, a bit small, but very adequate. There was a 4-Cup coffee pot and supplies.

Pool atrium area was very clean and had a large gathering area with tables and chairs. If you were there with a group, there was plenty of room to eat, party, play cards, whatever. Pool table off to one side. Kidney shaped pool and hot tub are off on one end of the atrium, surrounded by a wrought iron fence for safety. Area was super clean, with a new, porous concrete floor that doesn't allow water to puddle. Hot tub was big enough for about 8 people and felt great for a morning soak.

No negatives at all about this location, especially given the reasonable rate and value you get. Keep in mind, you are not paying luxury hotel rates, so don't expect huge fluffy towels, a pillow top bed and plush carpet. This is a great place, clean, with all the creature comforts, and a friendly staff, all for an affordable price.

Room rate does not include a breakfast, but you get a coupon for 20% off breakfast at the adjoining restaurant, which has great food and rates. You also get 4 coupons for 30% 0ff at the Tanger Outlets next door.

Add to all the above, adjoining the hotel is the Lumber Jack restaurant, which turned out to be a GREAT place to eat. (read my review), and that the Tanger Outlet stores are a stones throw away, and there is a Tim Horton's coffee/donut shop right next door.

Room Tip: Two floors of rooms surround a central pool/atrium area. Internal rooms face the pool. First floor has sliding doors that open to the pool area for easy access. Second floor rooms have "balcony" (about a 7' semi-circle area with wrought iron railing) that oversees the atrium area. We did not have any problem with noise from the pool area, but I can imagine that when it is busy, and filled with kids, or partying adults, noise will drift into the rooms. Pool is only open from 9 AM to 10:30 PM, so its not a sleep issue. Outside rooms face the parking lot, so I assume they are less prone to party noise. None of the rooms face a highway, or busy road, so that is not an issue. They have a variety of rooms, some with microwave and fridge, so ask if those are important to you.

We were headed north and stopped here because the weather was getting foggy and raining this night. We were pleasantly surprised with great service, value and comfort. We didn't get to use the indoor pool but it was very cool with an outdoorsy theme. Out kids wished they had a chance to use it but we needed to get back on the road. The restaurant attached had some of the best service we've had for breakfast in a long time.

It's a chain hotel off the highway. I chose it over the others and was pleased. Cute little gifts available in the lobby. Room was spacious and comfortable, clean and cute. I left before trying the available breakfast. The staff were friendly and the room was very reasonably priced.
