we were staying here for a military function and it was amazing. had a 3 night stay and a Tom Jones concert. i have not one single bad word to say. it was amazing. the staff are on top of children being in the adult pools. the lazy river needs a small about of updating, (new paint job and a few more rubber rings)

Food was Tasty, drinks were expensive but thats what you expect in a muslim country and a 5* resort.

Excellent stay.

Room Tip: The cheaper hotel is the family oriented one and the middle range is adults and the top one is very...

We stayed 7 nights at Al Husn hotel: A brilliant experience! The location of the hotel provides breathtaking views. The service and amenities provided are second to none (pool service, high tea, pre dinner drinks). Breakfast has to be mentioned separately: this is the most complete and savory breakfast on the planet, served on the perfect location by the most pleasant staff around.

This was my second visit to Shangri-La Barr el Jissah resort in Muscat. Stayed at the Husn hotel which caters to a more adult clientele. Enjoyed my stay very much, beautiful rooms, excellent service and beautiful scenery.

Hotel is having everything you require. Beautiful private beach, helpful and trained staff and most beautiful view of the beach you can have with graceful ambiance of a Shangri La entrance.

This was my most exotic and luxury experience I enjoyed during my business trip.

This is for those who want to enjoy the luxury......and luxury ,does not come cheap....

This was our first visit to Shangri-la. We didn't stay in the hotel but had the Christmas Day buffet at the al Tanoor restaurant. It is a wonderful setting and the variety and quality of the food was fantastic. We could take our time and really enjoy the food. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and it was a great experience.

Firstly, I would like to say this hotel is everything you imagine. Luxury, beautiful, helpful staff, the most stunning views you'll ever see all under the wonderful ambience of a Shangri La experience . The staff really make this place, they are truly professional and warm. The rooms (Al Husn) are beyond luxury - ultra comfortable beds, free mini-bar :), doors that open up into your bathroom so you can take in the jaw-dropping views whilst relaxing in the bath. Breakfast was superb, as was afternoon tea and pre-dinner drinks in the courtyard. The private beach is wonderfully relaxing (if you can stop looking at the amazing views) and I can recommend the beach BBQ. The only downside we found (which unfortunately is a main part of our holiday) was the food. It is very very bland, very average and not worth the prices charged. We ate at Bait al Bahr, the views at this restaurant are a sight to behold. The food arrived and it looked top-notch, until we ate it! we sent it straight back. The chef and waiter approached us but it came across that they didn't believe us! We didn't want to make a big fuss and just asked them to knock that meal from the bill - but I also left mine (king prawns) the meal just tasted....funny. We spoke to other guests and the feedback was very similar - that the food was the real disappointment at the resort. It seems to me that they are cost-cutting on the food (and it isn't cheap for customers). We also ate at Mahara in the day. I ordered chicken stir fry and it consisted of pieces of chicken in an (Uncle Bens) type sauce with a couple of pieces of shredded cabbage. When I told the staff member that it wasn't that good, she just smiled??!!... I honestly couldn't be bothered arguing....as Emirates had not delivered my luggage for 2 days and I had already spent the majority of my time here stressed, on the phone, on the internet, at reception, upset etc etc..... so the last thing I wanted to do was to start battling about the bad food. On the point of Emirates. They have a really tight connection to Muscat from Dubai, if you can avoid this declining airline, please do so. They left me with no luggage for 2 days on a 3 day holiday - they didn't answer calls or they were constantly engaged. Apparently it's very common on this leg, so if you've not booked yet, try Etihad, Qatar or Gulf......Emirates ruined the majority of my time here. Getting back to the hotel, I would recommend it for all it's great points but they need to address the poor/average food situation....I have already emailed Mark Kirk and outlined my complaint.

This was our second visit to Al Husn and it did not disappoint. The included extras make this a wonderful indulgent stay from the pre dinner drinks and canapés to the delightful afternoon tea, I couldn't fault the service or the staff. The scenery around the hotel is spectacular and the beach excellent for relaxing or trying out some water sports. It never felt crowded although the hotel was quite busy, there was always room by the pool or on the beach. This visit we found a lovely library with some wonderful books on Oman which we had missed before and the gym was well equipped although could have done with some air conditioning! I can recommend the seafood BBQ jazz night. The food was amazing and the champagne flowed all night as promised. Saving up to go back next year
