Drysdale River Station

We were greeted with wonderful country hospitality. Each & every one of the staff are super friendly.
We stayed on our way up to Mitchell Falls. Spent the afternoon catching up with the washing in the excellent laundry facilities. Plenty of grassy sites in the shade. Private bathrooms with plenty of hot water. Good little shop to stock up on supplies before heading on up to Mitchell Plateau. Prices reasonable considering how remote the location is. Good bar for a drink at the end of the day.
On our way back from The Falls we spent the night again, this time treating ourselves to dinner in the restaurant. It was a lovely home cooked style of a meal, served up with a smile and plenty of seconds for those with a big appetite.

We came though Drysdale River Station from Broome to Mitchell Plateau and experienced nothing but friendly service and very helpful staff (thanks for sorting our accessory battery Joanna and Nic). We sincerely wish you all the very best in future and welcome you around our fire anytime. Paul and Rebecca Gibbs, Mount Colah SYDNEY

On our APT Kimberley Wilderness Adventure we called into Drysdale River Station on the way to Mitchell Falls and then stayed the night of the 24th September on the way back. It was great to stay the night in a lovely new air-conditioned room and we had a scrumptious dinner served by the friendly staff. It was also a pleasure to meet the owner and learn about this huge property. Even managed to buy a Telstra card and call home from the "phone in the fridge"! We cannot understand the small number of criticisms of this property (below). It's remote and expensive to run, it provides a welcome stop on the trip with accommodation, toilets, small shop, camp ground, fuel, and air-conditioning, etc. We thought the drinks prices were very reasonable considering the location. A beer up the road in Sydney costs more! So we highly recommend that you stop or stay here to buy a meal or beer, have a chat and to support the owners and help them improve their beautiful part of the Kimberley.

Room Tip: The new accommodation block has A/C and excellent en-suites, plus the phone in the fridge to call ho...

We camped on sight, not on the river, and found the area to be spacious, so you were not camping on top of each other. Although we had hoped for grass, it was again mostly dirt. Fires each night without an issue. Nice enough bathrooms where you could shower (early, so there was still hot water left...!) washing machines, $4 a load, but ok for emergency. No camp kitchen or facilities for the like. We found the prices for meals there too much for us. The shop had basic supplies, frozen meat packs and other grocery items (expensive) and fuel. All in all, a good experience for us.

We stayed in the recently built cabins. Comfortable but a little cramped but then again we really only needed a bed and a good feed. A nice verandah set in a nice garden area, which can only get better as it develops. Both the bed and food were excellent and we felt rested and relaxed to face the next days travel.

This was also one of our favourite stations in the Kimberly (along with Charnely River).

Very well organised (Shop, Fuel, Bar, no frills restaurant) - and good camping ground with 6 x powered sites and extensive non-powered sites - well away from the road and dust!

Good amenities block - clean and with washing machines etc, and fires if you wish (BYO firewood from up the road - chainsaw recommended - we had one).

The burgers at the bar are worthy of a mention - one of the best burgers I've had in many years and HUGE! We did not partake in the buffet evening meals - but they looked good and we heard good reports. Nothing fancy, but good food we heard.

A couple of things I liked about this place - its not 'overdone' (like El Questro), the people are helpful and welcoming, and the campground is spacious.

We stayed here twice - before we went up to Mitchell Plateau/Falls Campground (with our Ultimate Campers) and after we returned - it was a welcome site after all those corrugations up and back to Mitchell.

They offer free caravan (yes there were caravans there) and camper 'babysitting' if you don't want to drag your camper up the Mitchell Plateau road, which was pretty rough when we were there.

A recommended stop and a pretty authentic 'Kimberly' experience in our view...

Room Tip: Arrive early if you want a powered site - there are only 6!

Stayed here on the way to Kalumburu. Took one of the new cabins. Okay, not cheap ($240.00) for the night but comfortable enough. Food was a buffet and also quite good. I guess out here, there isn't a lot of choice for accommodation. Fuel is pretty high as well but expected.
