We visited the Arboretum in early June.
The garden is well laid out and well maintained. We walked through many sections of the park. You can take your car on the 3 mile drive and visit many more beautiful areas, or you could walk all the way too. You can plan your visit by visiting their website and checking out which flowers are in bloom.
There is a good restaurant too if you need a bite. Overall one of the best gardens i have visited.

This is a wonderful place to spend part of a day. The arboretum is beautifully landscaped. There are many walking paths, and a not to be missed 3 mile drive where you can park at points of interest.
Go to the Visitors center when you arrive to get a map, and find out if there is anything special happening while you are there. Using the map, walk among your favorite gardens, or simply just wander. Bring a picnic lunch, or buy a lunch from their cafeteria and sit outside to eat it. No matter when you go during the year, there are fantastic things to look at. There is a maze (of shrubs) that will interest children (or the child in you).
A few miles down the road there is an 'Apple House' where you can buy some fresh produce. I find the Apple House a bit pricey, but the items there are very good.
The arboretum is just a beautiful place to take a walk, sit and read a book, or take a more serious hike.
My understanding is that dogs are not allowed, except on certain dates.

I have visited a number of gardens and arboretums across the country. This ranks as one of the best. The drive allows you to see many parts and then park to explore more on foot. I loved that there are so many benches to sit on and enjoy the views. Great place.

Although flowering plants were a little late, the arboretum was a lovely place to spend a few hours. We did make a mistake in taking the tram tour which would be good for those who can't walk much and have limited time. Otherwise, I would recommend that people walk the park or take their own car to park at the different areas in order to access the different types of trees, plants or the sculpture garden. The butterfly room is good for young kids but very small and not worth the cost for most people. Restaurant/cafeteria had light and healthy fare which we all enjoyed.
