“Small town gem”
Reviewed 23 March 2013

The food is much better than most small town restaurants. I think the Ribs are their best dish. Cooked just right and nice savory sauce. The soup on most day's is Steak and Dumpling and it is also very good.

“Small town cafe”
Reviewed 12 April 2012

If you like small town cafe food, this is a typical example. My husband really loves their fish, but most of the food is not really excellent or really terrible--average is pretty accurate

“Good solid food”
Reviewed 15 August 2011

Family of 4 ate there one late weekend night. Rest of town was pretty closed down and Old Tyme was highly recommended by our innkeeper.
The few entrees we had were good, basic food. The largest size burger and the steak and dumpling soup were both appreciated. Prices were fair.
Exception was the $15 butterflied shrimp entree ordered by our son. Come on! 3 deep fried shrimp for $15? But, it was late Saturday night and there was a Dairy Queen open down the street to drown our sorrows. Stick to the basics and you'll be fine.

“A Surprise”
Reviewed 10 December 2010

Chatfield, Minnesota (pop. about 2400) is my old home town and we recently spent several weeks near there with old friends. One of the Main Street cafes was under new ownership so we tried it out. It was so good we went back three times while we were there; it was a cut above the honest fare of most small town cafes. I had one of the best cheeseburgers of my life and varied, well-cooked main courses for dinner. This is not cordon bleu stuff, but that's not my cup of tea anyway. The food is very good.
Very reasonable prices, friendly small-town service, relaxed vibe.
You'd be mad not to give it a go!
