The cabins are nice, but unfortunately the owner named Bob is just not a nice guy! We were having a nice time, until there was an issue over a boat and this other side of the owner Bob came out and it was just nonsense bullying.

This reviewer stayed with us during the week of June 30th during which we had a terrible storm and lost power for 5 days. The reviewer felt that since he was inconvenienced by the power being out (something rather out of my control) he should get his pontoon boat for free. I responded that since the operation of the pontoon had nothing to do with the power being on or off and that I didn't cause the power outage that he would need to pay for it if he was going to use it. There was no attitude involved. The guest just didn't get the free pontoon he wanted and that makes me the bad guy, apparently.

Our stay at Hidden Haven Resort was fabulous! It was the most relaxing weekend I have had in a long time. The grounds are beautiful! Our cabin, #2, was very clean and we were amazed at all of the well-planned cooking supplies. We enjoyed the campfire in the evenings, peaceful walks through the campground, and the view from the deck!! The owners are very nice people....perfect people to own a resort! I believe almost all the cabins were rented, but it was still peaceful. I would recommend this place, and plan on returning. Carol

Me and My brothers family and All the grandkids have been going to Hidden Haven for several years. I happened to read some of the negative reviews and can't help but get upset. In one of the reviews they were complaining about the leeches. It's nothern Mn. !!! Not the Holiday Inn.
When we are there us and fellow resorters are respectful and never had a problem with people partying until 2 a.m. The key word is respectful. Some people should take a lesson on respect.Bob and Katie have a business to run and watch out for ALL the resorters. I would suggest if you don't like leeches and want to party all night and not abide by the rules maybe they should stay home. Bob and Katie you have a great place. Me and my brothers will be there in a couple of weeks to fish and back in June for our summer get together. One of our grand children just asked the other night when we can go to Hidden Haven. Thanks for all the great memories.

Room Tip: For our family we always use Cabin 8. We've slept up to 13 people adults and children. Nice veiw...

Bad customer service...from the owners. I recommend staying anywhere else.

Room Tip: At a different resort.

We just returned from our second stay at Hidden Haven and had a terrific week. We rented Cabins 7 & 8 for 5 families (17 people including 3 babies 8-14 weeks). The cabins are well appointed, very clean and comfortably spacious with large decks overlooking the lake. The entire resort is meticulously maintained and cared for by Bob and Katie, from the grounds to the cabins to the beach area. Our brood of 8 week to 11 year old cousins loved the sandy beach, and the parents loved the gently sloped grade which made it easy for our little ones to swim and splash without drifting away or venturing into deep water.
Fishing probably wouldn't have satisfied a really serious angler, but we had a great time catching sun fish, perch, rock bass and pike and we caught enough fish for 2 nice meals (quite a feat considering we spent more time untangling lines and baiting hooks than actual fishing).

All in all, we had a fun week and we are looking forward to summer vacations at Hidden Haven for many years to come. If you are looking for a professionally managed, family friendly and beautiful resort then check out Hidden Haven!

Room Tip: Cabins 7 & 8 are really close together which makes them ideal for big family gatherings.

I was part of that troublesome family having our yearly reunion at Hidden Haven Resort. I was staying in the cabin he had to fumigate and was also present during the entire altercation over the 3lb. stray dog. The dog was carried in and out. It's feet never touched a surface in that cabin save for the bathtub, which was thoroughly scoured out immediately. Had Bob been a little more compassionate towards both people and dogs, we might have come back again. Oh wait, we're one of those parties you don't want back!

Finally, my mother-in-law paid over $5000 for a 3 night stay using 9 cabins. Then Bob has the nerve to call the sheriff over an unpaid bill for $53! Really Bob? The sheriff had to call on behalf of Hidden Haven Resort and it just made a bad situation worse for all concerned.

Personal note to Bob: You're not doing yourself any favors by responding to guests the way you do both in person at the resort and afterwords online.

The reviewer's mother-in-law paid for the cabin rentals for the families and any incidental charges (bait, ice, pet fees, etc.) were to be paid by the individual families. The individual did not pay his pet fees and did not respond to repeated messages that were left for him so we turned the matter over to the Itasca County Sheriff. Regardless of how much the cost of the cabins was, that does not entitle someone to not pay legitimate charges that they agreed to pay at check-in. We have a signed registration card from the individual stating that he acknowledged and agreed to the pet fees that he skipped out on. You don't go to the grocery store and buy $200 of groceries and then tell the grocer that you aren't going to pay for the bag of potatoes because you've already spent $200 and you think that that should be enough. He or she would call the police as you walked out with the potatoes. It's no different in this situation.

The reviewer believes I should have shown more compassion towards a stray dog. That is his/her right. It is also my right and responsibility to set the rules on how pets are handled on my property so that pet and non-pet owners alike can enjoy the facilities and when those rules are broken to assess the risk to other guests and in this case, demand that the stray dog be removed from my property. Common courtesy dictates that we should have been asked permission prior to a stray dog being brought not only on the resort grounds but in a cabin. For the reviewer to assume that how he/she would handle a stray in his/her own home is the same as at a resort, where other guests are present, is lacking common sense of any kind.

Bob and Katie provided a 5 star experience. They are some of the finest people we have ever met. We'll definitely be back. Cabin and surroundings were spectacular. Loved every minute of our stay.
