“Family friendly, great place to relax and have fun!”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

My family has been staying Lakecrest for many years and hope to for many more. We love the older cabins for there charm and view of lake! The new/modern cabins are beautiful, roomy and yes airconditioned. The lake is great for boating and swimming and the kids love making friends at the sand volleyball court in the evening-lots to do-lots of fun!

After finding this place on the internet to be together as a family for the first time in six years, we were thrilled to find Lakecrest the perfect place for a fun and relaxing week. There were boats, floats, and games enough to keep us busy. Our cabin was extremely clean and just right for the four of us. Detroit Lakes is a wonderful spot to visit for jet skiing, shopping, and dinner. Hats off to the owners who run a first rate family spot offering old fashioned fun but providing modern conveniences such as wifi to keep us connected when necessary.

We just got back from a stay here with a very large group. The cabins were very clean and new, except for one of our party who had to stay in a very old place that smelled of mold and was pretty dated.
You need to bring your own towels and soap and I would suggest extra pillows and bedding, that is unless you like to sleep on terribly thin pillows with a crinkly mattress and a thin blanket and VERY old comforter. The kitchen is fully equipped except for any kind of dish soap. Luckily there is a Walmart very close by to get all needed supplies.

The thing that irked most of us was the 11 pm quiet rule. Seriously! We are grown adults, most over the age of 50 and if you stay on your deck after 11 pm and chat (even quietly), the owner comes over and shoos you in like you are rowdy adolescents. Just nutty especially since, besides our large group of 50, there was only one other cabin occupied. What would have been a dead Labor Day Weekend for the place turned into a full house.

They also expected us to fully clean our cabins before we checked out. This including vacuuming!

Room Tip: Make sure you request a new cabin

Since 1973 when I was 7 years old my family has been going to Lakecrest Resort. Sometimes one week and sometimes two weeks. We have even come up a couple times for long weekends in the fall. They are on their second owners now. But, still a great place to stay. You really never do have to leave. Laundry facilites, a few staples for groceries, things for the kids to do, the swimming area and beach are great.
The owners keep a pretty tight ship on the noise level after 11pm, which if you are a family staying in the cabins by the lake, you love this because you have to sleep with the windows open - no A/C. The new owners have done many updates including taking out all the old trailers and putting in new cabins with central air. They are beautiful.
This is the type of resort that once you go one year - you will want to return year after year.
That is why we are on our 14th year straight of taking my husband and kids up there with all our extended family. It's a little more expensive than other resorts, but it's worth every penny.
