I stayed here in October, just a couple weeks after the hotel opened. It still had the new carpet smell. I'm not a big fan or Marriott's modern design elements that they are employing in common areas, something heavily emphasized in this property.

However, my room was large, well appointed, a very nice and very large LCD HD TV. The bathroom was a tad small, and I don't care for the vanity outside of the bathroom (personal preference).

The staff were very friendly. Breakfast had a lot of options in a larger area, which was kept well stocked and very clean. Internet was actually "high speed."

Appeared to be a nice pool, that I did not use.

Parking is an issue, it was parents weekend at UMD and hotel appeared to be close to sell-out. Guests were parking on lawn and on city streets - not enough parking.

Location: it is up the Miller Hill area. Therefore it is close to airport, UMD, and shopping. If you want to spend your time downtown, this might not be the place for you.

One final gripe, for a brand new property, built brand new from ground up... the rooms were not very sound proof. Hall noise was not a problem, but I could hear guests on both sides of my room.

New hotel, just opened. In a good location/neighborhood. We had a 1 bedroom suite, it has a living room/kitchen and then a seperate bedroom with a bathroom in it. Our bed was hard as a rock, the A/C's out side of our window kept us up all night. We lost power in our room twice, they said it was because the rooms are made to conserve energy. The shower was nice and big, but you had no water pressure, and the hot water was gone at 8am. The pool area was very nice and clean, our 13 month old loved it!! This hotel also has a GREAT breakfast, warm food!!! Over all, we would not stay here again. Paying $190 a night, I would like a softer bed and less noise.

Dear masinsmom,

Our apologies for the inconveniences you had experienced during your stay with us. We opened a little less then a month prior to your arrival and were still in the process of working out the kinks that come with a newly opened hotel (ex; water temperatures, room circuits etc.).

Bringing us to the present, about 7 months after our opening, I can assure you that we have ironed out the glitches and you can expect a near flawless stay if you choose to stay with us during your next visit to Duluth. In addition, we continue to serve the same wonderful hot breakfast in the morning, and it's a great time of year to experience our outdoor BBQ and fire pit also.

Thank you for taking the time to address your concerns and I do hope that we will be able to regain your business in the future.

We appreciate you,

First, this hotel is brand spanking new. The place was spotless. The staff was obviously eager, but pleasant. We stayed here with two young children to take advantage of the room setup with living space and a kitchen. I really liked the decor. Nice maple cabinents and nice mix of lively colors. The facilities were nice (smallish pool and hot tub, outdoor grill and fire pit). Really enjoyed our stay.

This hotel just opened 2 weeks ago! Everything is brand new! Not only is it brand new, but it is GORGEOUS! The staff was friendly and very helpful.

My husband and I had a 1 bedroom suite with a gas fireplace. It was absolutely lovely! We have stayed at a lot of hotels and many of the higher end hotels such as Hilton, and Radisson. This hotel was nicer than any we've stayed at.

The only thing missing is a nice view, but it is only a short drive to Lake Superior! The lobby is beautiful and they have a fabulous outdoor area with a fire pit! We took advantage of the free breakfast buffet, which was good, but average for a breakfast buffet.

It is located on Miller Hill which makes it close to many popular stores and restaurants.
We ate dinner at a very nice Olive Garden which was .5 miles from the hotel!

We will definitely return to this hotel! (I will upload some photos of the hotel soon)
