“The original craft beer brewery in Duluth”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2014

Fitger's was brewing local craft beer before it became a national trend. You can see part of the viewing operation through a large window if you sit downstairs. It's fun to order the flight of beers, which is a sample platter of about a half dozen of their brews. Then, choose the one you like. The beer varieties change often and are written on a chalkboard. Their beers are excellent, it's just a matter of finding the style you like. The food is also very good. I like the Philly Sandwich a lot. However, I've tried several of their burgers and sandwiches and they are all excellent. I've not tried any of the fish items. The atmosphere is old time and classic. This was clearly a brewery long before they added food and the bar for the public. It can get busy (standing room only) on weekend nights so we usually arrive late afternoon to get a table. Don't miss this if you are Duluth.

“Don't miss if you love beer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

Not much to say that hasn't been said. OUTSTANDING BEERS. Food was good but not great, thus 4 starts. The pub area is a really fun place to hang out, have a pint and meet new people. We were in Duluth 3 days and went here twice. We live in the twin cities and I would make the 2.5 hour drive to enjoy a Duluth outdoor activity and then go to Fitgers.

“Beer and good filling food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

Fitger's is probably one the place to eat in Duluth. The building has few shops that you can wonder around. Ramp Parking with Validation is available.
I ordered the White Fish burger, It had a strong fish smell and could barely eat half of the sandwich. I had ordered few other items so I did not go hungry. Overall it was good.

Pros:
+ Great local beer selection
+ Located in the Fitger's building with other stores and restaurants
+ Reasonable price

Cons:
- If you are claustrophobic you might want to avoid certain sections of the restaurant
- Hard to figure out parking if you are visiting for the first time. (Next door restaurant, Pickwick has a lot next to this restaurant but you cannot park there, instead you have to park in the ramp behind)
- Certain food items are sub par, the White Fish Burger has a very strong fish smell. Unless you like that stay away from that item.

“Beautiful setting - wonderful food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014

Beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous setting right by the lake and lakewalk. Food and service were excellent, and there are many small shops in the Fitger's building for shopping too!

“My husband's favorite restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

I live about 10 blocks down the street and my husband would eat here every day if he could! We love the laid back atmosphere, the great food and the wonderful beer. There are lots of menu choices, including an extensive selection of vegetarian options. My favorite is the wild rice burger served "pub style" though they have a couple of other wild rice burger options. My husband prefers the jalepeno burger. Locally raised beef, as well as salads and sandwiches, are good choices too. I recently had the fish and chips on a Friday evening and it was terrific! Portions are generous, service is great and prices are reasonable. This is one of the first micro-breweries in Minnesota and they offer a great selection from light to dark beer and ales. I usually get the Golden Lighthouse or Apricot Wheat, but my husband loves the Oatmeal Stout. Try to see some live music acts if possible. This is a really popular place for locals, the downside is that there can be an hour wait for a table on the weekends. Although my most recent visit was just for 2 (told it would be a 45 min. wait, but when we asked about the patio we were seated immediately) we often bring our kids or other family and friends. Another strategy if you can't get around a wait is to go across the hall to the Red Star and have a drink (you can take your beer across the hall is a table pops up before you finish) or visit the shops in the old brewery turned shopping center. It's a v
ery eclectic place!
