This hotel is a little pricey but in a perfect location. You can walk to the Canal Park area, and the back of the hotel sits on Lake Superior and the lake walk. The rooms were clean & they served a good (free) breakfast. Pool was a little small, but clean. We were there over 4th of July and you could see the fireworks from the parking lot. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to someone else and would definitely stay here again.

We love this place, the rooms are very nice, sizable, clean and new.
This are the closest hotel rooms to the canal and the bridge, if you're in to ship watching
Best rooms in the house are 158, 258, 358. On the corner with views of the canal, lighthouses, bridge etc. King whirlpool suites with fireplace. We didn't use the pool but looked nice.
Great breakfast too. Both hot and cold and good coffee !

Room Tip: If you ask for an upgrade ask for a discount, they'll usually give 10%.

Came here for a surprise birthday weekend for my teenage son. Booked the room initially for one night online. It would not take my AAA discount, so I called the hotel directly and they cheerfully changed the rate. Closer to our arrival date we decided to stay an extra night. They had rooms, but we were going to have to switch rooms for the second night due to full occupancy. When we checked in the front desk clerk told me check back in the morning to see if it would be possible to keep the same room. While on the way to the room she must have done some rearranging and left a phone message for us that it would not be necessary for us to move in the morning! It was so great of her. The room was huge, clean and nicely appointed. We did have to move the furniture with the pullout sofa a bit so we could walk around it to get to the restroom. It was a bit tight when the bed was pulled out. We had a balcony where we could see the freighters going under the lift bridge. The do sound the horns 24/7 so if you're a light sleeper bring plugs because it's loud. Two complaints, the bottom sheet was pilled and it I hate cheep sheets. Second, the heating and cooling system cycled on and off and woke me up several times. I prefer a fan system that runs constantly for the white noise effect to block out outside noises. Not so here unfortunately. There are loud vehicles in Canal Park reving their engines. The safe was left locked by a previous guest. I called the desk and in a very few minutes maintenance took care of it. We accidentally lost our key to the bike lock and again with in a minute maintenance was able to cut off the lock and he was so nice would not accept a tip! He went above and beyond the call of duty! We did the Superior Whitewater Raft trip and it was fun, the Spririt Mt. alpine twister coaster also fun and rode the Munger Trail also great! The Canal Park cheese corn/carmel corn mix in the cart near the hotel on the way to watch the freighters was delicious! Work out room had nice equipment, but they need some wipes to clean the machines!! Breakfast was decent, eggs, bacon, waffles etc.. Overall this is really a great location and the staff is excellent would definitely stay again and highly recommend it.

I just finished up a two night stay at the Comfort Suites Canal Park and it was amazing!
The absolute best thing about this hotel is its location! Within walking distance to EVERYTHING! You can walk to gift and souvenir shops, restaurants, etc.

The Comfort Suites parking lot is almost directly across from the Grandma's Saloon. You never have to get into your car to go eat somewhere! It is is walking distance to an Italian place and a Mexican place.

Lots of tourist shops are very close. The hotel has a Breathtaking view of Lake Superior. It has a nice patio. There is a walking path a stones throw away. It was very active this time of year with bikers and walkers.

The rooms were comfortable and the bathroom roomy. The Staff was very helpful and assisted with any tourist question I had!

I can not say ONE negative thing about this hotel!

I 'll be back!!!

My husband and I stayed at the Comfort Suites Canal Park as a weekend getaway, a break from work stresses. We had stayed at most of the other hotels in Canal Park, but decided to try out the Comfort Suites this time. We stayed in a room in the new section with a king-size bed, wet bar, lake view, and balcony (or deck – we were on the ground floor). As their rooms are all technically “suites” (our couch was a pull-out), the room was larger than a typical hotel room, which was nice. Another nice touch was the décor – modern but comfortable, and I especially liked the large Blacklock art photography. As a “big boat” lover, the location was also convenient – closest hotel in Canal Park to the canal. Having the balcony was also fun, but the view was a bit obscured by the wall of the balcony next door (see picture). The bathroom was also nicely appointed and the shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. Overall, the room was comfortable, clean, and pretty. I would have only wished for a larger picture window to really be able to soak up the lake view.

We chose the Comfort Suites for this stay to try someplace new and for the price – the rate was the cheapest in Canal Park for the weekend we went. It was a good value. The pool was rather small but not overly crowded. The hot tubs (that’s right two of them) were also enjoyable, and the staff was friendly and efficient. The free breakfast was uninspired but plentiful. Options included a hot item (bacon one day, biscuits and gravy the other), cheap pastries, toast/bagels/English muffins, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, fresh apples, bananas, and oranges, cereal, juice, coffee, and tea, as well as “make your own” waffles – chocolate or plain. Other features people might be interested in, but that we didn’t try included: a book exchange and board games you could borrow, a pretty large arcade area, and a workout room.
