“Quit, clean and good breakfast”
Reviewed 20 January 2010

I stayed in this hotel for 4 weeks and my stay was good enough with no problems as such.

Positive
-----------
1. Good Speed internet (complementary/free)
2. Good breakfast
3. Very soft spoken shuttle driver (Santos)
4. Quite neighborhood.
5. All rooms had a kitchenette which was really helpful for some guys who were vegetarians and wanted to cook themselves.

Negative
------------
1. Drinks should have been made available in evening snacks.
2. You can't walk till Eden Prairie City Center if its snowing outside (there are other hotels which are closer)

My son and his family wanted to attend the Renaissance Festival in Shakopee, MN so we decided as a birthday gift to him we'd pay for everything and go along to help with the kids. I found a great rate of $139.00 per night, which included tickets to the festival, from a link off the Renaissance Festival's web site. I got a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom "penthouse" with a portable crib and a sleeper sofa and a full kitchen (with a dishwasher !) which was perfect for all of us--4 adults and 2 kids. The penthouse was spacious with king sized beds, a breakfast bar, fireplace, ceiling fan and balcony. One of the bedrooms was a loft style and had it's own bathroom. It was very nice to each have separate sleeping and bathroom quarters. The suite was in a complex of 3 or 4 other suites but you didn't hear your neighbors through the walls. You could hear a little noise in the stairway area but it wasn't too bad. It was a pain to haul your luggage and cooler up the stairs--there isn't an elevator. Plus we had extra gear with a 6 month old along. The breakfast was fantastic! Not like any other free breakfasts I've seen at other hotels. There were several hot selections including eggs, meat, potatoes, pancakes or french toast (depending on the day), oatmeal, breads, muffins, fruit, waffles with strawberries & whipped cream for toppings, etc, etc. It was great and hard to believe that it was included in the price of the room! The actual location of the hotel is kind of out of the way from Shakopee and the Renaissance Festival but the drive isn't too bad. It's probably 20 minutes or more to the Mall of America. For the price we got and the room size, breakfast, etc, you can afford to drive a little to get to what you want. I would definitely check out this Residence Inn for my next trip to the Minneapolis area!

We stayed here for a soccer tournment so somewhat unfair as the place was filled with kids. We were in penthouse suite that had a separate bed and bath in a loft area. It was nice to have two baths. Rooms were pretty clean. Hall areas were very beat up and in need of some paint. Breakfast was not bad, but they needed help keeping the food filled. Seemed to be on of those hotels that the keys did not work alot also. Had some strange smells of food cooking in the halls. I enjoy a regular room, not a kitchenette better, but for what it was not bad at all.

This is a nice place to stay with good location and clean accomodations. It is not too far from MOA and Minneapolis and is not too expensive as well. The rooms were clean with good amenities including a decent breakfast buffet. The staff were friendly and helpful. The kitchennette was roomy enough and overall everything was good.

The Residence Inn, like all, are not your typcial hotel. They are more like apartment buildings. This worked great for our group. We had 4 adults all sharing a room. We had plenty of space with a kitchenette, seperate living room, bedroom area, and the bathroom was a little out of the way. Great place to stay if you are staying for a longer time or for business. They have a complimentary breakfast which they try to have a variety each day. Staff is great and very helpful. Very close to the Eden Prairie Mall and nice eating options. The Residence Inn was exactly what I expected.

  • Liked — Spacious rooms
  • Disliked — Had a hard time getting warm water, but that was due to Minnesota winter weather of below zero!!!

The only reason why this hotel gets 2 stars instead of one is because of good management and staff. If it were not for them, we would not have stayed there for several weeks. They were about as good as we've seen; there is only so much that even the best people can do with a place like that.

That hotel is probably getting too old, and because it takes animals and has kitchens, it attracts all kinds of riff raff. Despite that, it never felt like an unsafe or unclean place to be; just old and noisy.

Besides the noise from the freeway just a few hundred yards away, and a major thoroughfare with tractor-trailors that would sometimes compression brake as they got off the freeway at 2a.m. just 100 yards away, there was frequent noise from families and groups who stomped around in their rooms, up and down the stairs, slammed their doors, had parties late at night, and yelled and screamed outside at the pool and basketball court.

It was like staying in a cheap hotel, yet the daily rates were about $170-$200 per night. We have stayed at some nice hotels for that much, and we have stayed at some hotels like that one for about $60 per night.

We have stayed at regular Marriotts and they have been nice. We've paid around $200 per night. The reason we tried the Marriott Residence Inn was because it was a Marriott with a kitchen, and we thought we would be getting the better, "Marriott" experience; but, once we realized that we were not, we felt stuck because we had a dog and no other places with kitchens, that would take a dog, had balconies.

The manager, Ronnell gets 5 stars; she's too good for that place; we figure that she must be paying her dues there. She should be a manager at one of the nicer Marriotts. Some of the staff get 3 or 4 stars. The hotel itself, gets 1 star. Most of the guests who stayed there were ok, but there were always enough bad guests to make us think often about moving to a different hotel. I give it 1 star for guests.

If you have a noisy group, this is the place to stay; but if you need peace and quiet, this place could work on your nerves until you feel like snapping!

We had a great stay at the Residence Inn. There with our daughter and our in-laws, we stayed in a suite with a loft and bedroom, so we could all stay in one room. At $120 over Memorial Day weekend, not only was this more reasonable than renting two rooms at a less expensive hotel, but it gave us a place to just "sit and talk" comfortably.

While we were there, somehow the inside lock jammed and we could not reenter our room. The desk attendant was super helpful in unjamming the lock. We all ended up laughing.

The breakfast was very good, although there was inconsistency between the weekend set up and the week day set up. Very minor.

All in all, we found the staff friendly and helpful. The lilacs on the ground smelled incredible! We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
