“Very nIce motel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2012 via mobile

This is a very nice motel. One of the nicest I have ever stayed in. It is very well taken care of. I believe we stayed in one of the new rooms. The rooms were decorated so cute and the bathroom was huge! I have attached some pics of our room. It was room 7 I believe. The people were very nice and we would definitely stay there again.

Thank you for your kind review and taking the time to post some pictures of the bathroom and beds in our room 7. that room is in the back building and is 10 yrs old. Since you have stayed with us, we have replaced the duvet covers with ones that are a soft blue.

When in Ely, you are really on the edge of civilization. Most people visiting the area are campers and canoers, so the choices for places to stay are limited. The Adventure Inn is very well kept on the outside. It has a cabin feel with places to sit outside located near or directly outside your room and beautiful hanging flower baskets. Think motor lodge of the 1950s...it is like being in a time warp. When you step inside the rooms, you will feel like your back in the 50s. However, the bed was comfortable. We felt that the place was clean, but it is very worn. The carpet was a bit dirty (spots). The lighting is less than desirable. It was either very bright or too dark. If in the area again, we may try the Super 8, but we would stay here again if in a pinch. Skip the free breakfast...sweet rolls and donuts not so good!

Room Tip: You might want a room on the second floor. We had a baseball team staying here when we did, so it wa...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our place. We appreciate any and all comments and work hard to rectify any that may be not quite perfect. Our back building is 10 yrs old now and each of the rooms are decorated differently. We finished our new building last year and now have begun to do renovations in the back building. we have replaced a lot of carpet last winter/spring. We now have 3 rooms left to replace. Yours must have been one of the 3. The carpet is shampooed regularly so the stain has been from before. This winter, the rest of the carpets will be replaced. I am happy to hear that the bed as comfortable. We will begin replacing the mattresses this winter as well, before they become a problem. Every year, we try to update and improve our rooms.

The Adventure Inn is a relatively nice place on the eastern side of downtown. We were in a handicapped room which was OK but the shower was poorly designed and always ended up with lots of water on the floor outside the shower. Saw a few bugs and mosquitoes in the room, but there were mosquitoes everywhere in that part of the world. TV and WiFi worked pretty well. We were in room 8 (Duck Pond) in the older section and suspect that other rooms (non-handicapped), particularly in the newer building, would be preferable. Information in room advised that the walls were thin, so noise would carry, and it did! Most restaurants are a good walk or short drive away. Would probably stay here again – in a different room.

Room Tip: Go for the new "solar" building.

Thank you for your review. I understand your concerns for the shower leaking some water on the floor. As you noted, the room is designated handicapped accessible, which means it must allow a wheel chair into the shower. Because of that, the lip that normally keeps the water inside the shower cannot exist. There is a slope to have the water drain into the drain but at times, some water escapes and leaves the shower stall. We do ask all of our guests to be respectful of each other and encourage quiet time after 10 pm. The room you were in does have a door that opens to the outside deck area and can be a bit more noisey than the new building that has rooms with doors that open into a hallway. We do appreciate your comments and work hard to make each stay as comfortable as possible.

We recently spent the evening at the Adventure Inn and it was the perfect place to stay in Ely. We had a group of 8 and the large room with 4 beds accomodated half our group perfectly. The rooms were very clean, service was excellent the rates very reasonable.

Mark and Sue clearly take great pride in their place and it shows.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new section.

I loved the fluffy comforter and pillows. A very nice room at a moderate price.

This is a great place to stay in Ely, Minnesota. The owners Sue & Mark work hard to make your experience unique and special. The motel has been tastefully renovated and has a variety of different accomodation to suit everyone. The two bedroom kitchen suite is spacious and outfitted with everything you might need. Comfortable beds, nice bedding, great kitchen and lots of room. In the main building I stayed in a beautiful room with new furnishings, queen bed, jacuzzi tub, shower (with wonderful rock tiling) and again a spacious room. They also provide coffee and the most wonderful scones and other treats in the morning in the lobby.Sue and Mark went out of their way to give me a rides and offered to drop me off at the North American Bear Centre or the International Wolf Centre if I needed a ride. The motel is located across the street from a grocery store and it is a short walk downtown to shops and restaurants. This motel is more like a hotel. The service and friendship they offer is exceptional.

Room Tip: Both rooms I stayed in were great. The two bedroom was upstairs and the one bedroom was in the main...

My husband, myself and 2 of our friends stayed at this inn May 18, 2012. It is recently remodeled. Very clean and conveniently located in the tiny town of Ely, MN. The gal at the desk was so friendly. They serve the best coffee and danish in the morning in the lobby. I would recommend this place.
