Owner description: This modest house in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, was home to Judy Garland for her first four years. Come see where "Baby Gumm" got her start. We have over 3000 collector pieces in our Land of Oz including (but not limited to) the carriage from the movie! We also have a Children's museum with many hands on activities for kids that will get their imaginations going. It sports a bakery, firehall, dress-up area, "sand" pit, water table, maze, treehouse and much more! If you are a teacher, visit our website today to plan a field trip! Many of our field trips qualify for a grant that helps you come for free!

about Judy Garland's life. The memorabilia from both her vaudeville days, the Wizard of Oz and later career is very intriguing. The highlight for me was seeing the carriage from the Wizard of Oz movie, the one pulled by the horse of a different color.

“You Must See This!”

First of all, when I tell people I travel at least once every two years to Judy Garland's birthplace in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, they are so kind to correct me and say, "You mean Grand Rapids, Michigan." No. I really don't! Judy Garland was born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
Grand Rapids is about 3.5 hours from the Twin Cities and it is worth the drive. MInnesota is one of the most beautiful states in the country, and I've been through 38 of them so far. The real jewel of Grand Rapids, of course, is this wonderful museum. Not only can you tour the home, stand on the steps where Judy stood as a child and see what the house was like back when Judy was born, but you can walk through an amazing museum full of Garland treasures. The staff knows their Judy.
As Frank Sinatra said, "The rest of us will be forgotten, never Judy."
So take a trip to Minnesota and be sure to drive up to Grand Rapids. You won't want to miss this!
