As we travel between Ontario and South Dakota frequently, I have always wanted to stay here. (Disclaimer: we stay in everything from 2 star up.) While I do love the comfort of some chains, it is also nice to stay in small places that are owned by individuals, as this is a part of North America that we are losing rapidly! This hotel is super clean and very quiet, even with the windows open. There is no individual air conditioning, but the evening was cool, so it was pleasant. There is a picnic table and charcoal grill outside and there are a few restaurants close by. The night we stayed, it was all booked, so do make summer reservations! The fact that it is built into a hill makes it unique and for Tolkien fans, you can pretend you are a hobbit :) Don't come expecting 4 star rooms. Just revel in this piece of Americana while it lasts! We will be back, especially for the novelty factor!
