Dolish Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast

We had four really relaxing days at the Cider Loft (self catering part of Dolish Farmhouse at the end of July. Don't let the winding narrow lanes put you off, this place is worth finding. Jonathan and Jane made us very welcome, the bread, milk, and farm produced eggs in the fridge were a lovely surprise, not to mention the bubbly! Very well equipped kitchen, only thing lacking was a washing machine, but we didn't need one.

Bed very comfortable with a small shower room in the corner of the bedroom, and both bedroom and kitchen had windows both sides with great views. You are encouraged to visit the chickens and the orchard.

Don't miss the local Luppitt Arms for an unforgettable evening - run by a 91 year old Mary, who asks you to stoop and pick up your own beer bottle and leave the money on the counter. The local residents will entertain you with local history and gossip. Prepare to go back in time!

Room Tip: If you are tempted to self cater, this is the happy compromise! the Cider Loft is a part of the B a...

Many thanks for your informative review. Glad you were so pleased with the accommodation...(there are full details and photos of the bedroom, shower room and living room on the self-catering page of the Dolish Farmhouse website) ...and that you enjoyed the area, including a colourful visit to our ancient Luppitt Inn! The excellent local beer is brewed right here in the village.
For the information of future guests, we decided against installing a washing machine in the Cider Loft itself as the kitchen is open-plan with the living and dining areas and we think the noise and moisture are best kept away from the living areas. However for visitors on longer stays, you are welcome to make use of the farmhouse washine machine and washing line when Jane is not busy with the B&B laundering (she would say that this is most of the day!)

We had a very pleasant stay at Dolish farmhouse. It is a beautifully refurbished farmhouse in a lovely setting. Jonathan and Jane could not have been more helpful and accommodated a later than usual breakfast on our first morning and printed out directions to a nearby wedding location we were attending. We highly reccommend Dolish and hopefully will return some day in the future. Paul. Niamh, Eamonn & Trish (West of Ireland!)

This is our fourth stay here. The lovely farm house is of a very high standard of decor and comfort, set in beautiful countryside off the beaten track yet only a short drive to Honiton. We always receive a friendly and warm welcome and we always look forward to each visit. The owners, Jon and Jane are very hospitable and nothing seems too much trouble for them. Great care is taken to cook really tasty breakfasts from locally sourced foods. Afternoon tea with lemon drizzle cake is a real treat. The beds are really comfortable, in good sized rooms providing a very good night's sleep in very quiet country surroundings. The bathrooms en-suite have super showers.
They have also just received a Tripadvisor 2013 Winner Certificate of Excellence. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Each room is large and airy and very comfortable

Absolutely delighted to have you as one of our many regular guests! It is particularly valuable to have reviews from regular visitors as you have the experience of your previous visits with which to compare the quality of your current stay. This keeps us "on our toes" to make sure that our standards are consistently high. As you know we do offer our regular visitors (3rd and subsequent stays) a small discount on room rates (as we do for longer stays of 4 or more nights). We look forward to your 5th visit!

This is a very beautiful farmhouse and garden, even more beautiful than the photos suggest. Everything is well thought out, spacious, comfortable and impeccably clean. Jane and Jonathan are wonderful hosts -- helpful, kind and attentive but never obtrusive. They proved very flexible in adapting to our changing needs. Breakfasts were delicious and most of the food was either home-grown or locally sourced. We will have no hesitation in returning soon.

Dolish Farmhouse was just perfect! I chose this B&B for a long weekend break - it was a Christmas gift for my boyfriend as I had booked a Golden Eagle experience in the village for him. On arrival we were greeted by Jane and Jonathan, quickly followed by a welcome cup of tea and the most amazing lemon drizzle cake I have ever tasted!! The good food didn't stop there, the breakfasts were really tasty with great portions setting us up for the day ahead. The view from the bedroom was stunning and it was so peaceful. We slept very well in the comfy bed.

Honiton is only 4 miles away with some lovely places to eat, we'd certainly recommend 'The Railway' (which was also suggested by Jonathan).

Whilst here we got engaged walking along the coastal cliffs and beaches in nearby Beer & Branscombe ...a stunning setting for a proposal! The weekend was very special, and I couldn't think of a nicer place I'd rather be to celebrate and enjoy this moment. Thank you Jonathan and Jane.

We were thrilled that Dolish Farmhouse and the South Devon Coastal path turned out to be your Engagement location! It made it a special weekend for us too.
You were our first visitors to experience flying birds of prey on nearby Dumpdon Hill with our local expert falconer Jonathan Marshall and by your account it was a great day. We plan to include details of this exiting new attraction with other local activities we list on our website.
How about a wedding in Luppitt? St. Mary church is beautiful, overlooking the valley. There is also Lady Margarets Mediaeval Hall in Honiton for a civil ceremony. Nearby Lakeview Manor is another lovely wedding venue and we frequently accommodate some of their wedding guests and sometimes the bride & groom too.
I'm sure potential future guests reading your review will find this helpful and would share in sending our best wishes for your future happiness together.

My boyfriend and I recently enjoyed a one night stay at Dolish Farmhouse and have nothing but positive things to say about this B&B.

The house is lovely and the rooms are immaculate with a good shower and really comfy bed. It is really easy to find and close to Honiton but is really peaceful and the views are amazing. Jane and Jonathon were both so welcoming and very helpful with suggesting where we should visit in the local area. Breakfast was delicious (especially the home made bread)! Would definitely recommend and will stay again if in the area.

Room Tip: We were lucky enough to see all the rooms as all the other guests for that night had cancelled and J...

Very pleased to hear that you and your boyfriend enjoyed your stay so much.
Your approval of the quality of the shower is a very helpful comment - we have installed top quality Gröhe and Hudson Reid models that give high volume rather high pressure of water - more like standing under a waterfall! Our highly efficient renewable energy heating & hot water system are based on a huge hot water "heatstore" capacity of 1,000 litres and fuelled only by wood pellets and thermal solar tubes. Your breakfast was cooked on our log-fired range - so we're trying to do our bit for the environment. Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We look forward to your second visit.

Great self catering accommodation with large airy kitchen and sitting area. Bedroom spacious but quiet and dark which was just what we wanted.

A little out of the way if you're coming from the motor way from the north and some quite narrow roads but sat nav had no problems finding it. Once you're there it's very easy to get to all the local sights: ottery St. Mary, Sidmouth and Exeter are within easy driving distance and even Dartmoor isn't far away.

The champagne in arrival was much appreciated as was the pint of milk as we got there quite late. Jonathan and Jane were very helpful, providing maps and advice. We will stay here again if we are in the area.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your visit to our self-catering Cider Loft apartment and we're delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We would love to see you again for another visit in the future. Just for the benefit of future potential guests, the bedroom has blackout curtains so is v. dark at night - but is dual aspect and a very light sunny room in the daytime! The travel time by car from the M5 is about 20 minutes, if exiting at Junction 26 - Wellington. The travel time from the A 30/303 at Monkton is about 8 minutes(narrow lanes), or 12 minutes from Honiton.
We have 2 listings on Trip Advisor, one for Dolish Farmhouse B&B (serviced accommodation listed under Hotels), and a separate one for the Cider Loft (self-catering loft apartment located within the same farmhouse, listed under Holiday Rentals).
