“Quick Friday night stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 September 2013

I chose this hotel since I needed a place south of the twin cities. The hotel is a little off and in a darker area. The parking behind the hotel was very dark and wasn't impressed I needed to park my car in the area over night. I booked a 2 room 2 queen suite (#230). The room is one of the smaller 2 room suites I've stayed in. It was clean and everything was in working condition. The bathroom was also rather small. The room reminded me of my stays in NYC where hotel rooms are small and the hallways. The tvs were very clear and had no issues. The room was located on the 2nd floor near the stairs to the back door. The pool area is great for kids. It had a bigger water slide and the other side of the pool had basketball hoops. The kiddie pool is great for smaller children and included a small toddler slide, umbrella fountain, and a few other kiddie pieces. The hot tub is one of the larger ones I've seen at Holiday Inn hotels. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We purchased tickets to Nick Universe - all day ride pass at the hotel for $22 per person and saved apx $8 per person. They also sold other attraction tickets for a discount. It was also nice to have cold water (lemons, oranges, and limes) and coffee in the lobby to fill our cups as needed. Overall we'd stay again but not sure we'd book the 2 room suite again for the price you pay.

My stay at the Holiday Inn in Lakeville was generally a pleasant one. Rooms are nice, appear to be clean and well maintained as are the common areas. Nevertheless, I feel compelled to gripe about, of all things, the soap. I am a frequent traveler and never in my 10+ years on the road have I been provided with ONE small bar of hand soap (which I have had to shuttle back and forth between sink and shower) for a FOUR night stay. Normally when a bar of soap is used, hotel staff will put a fresh one out in case you need it; not at this hotel. It may seem like a minor thing but, in my opinion, it shows there is something amiss with the management of this hotel and the issue makes me question the overall effectiveness of the cleaning staff. It also makes me question the overall appearance of cleanliness of the rooms. If they are so stingy with the soap, what other corners are they cutting?

Thought this would be a good choice and it was fine but what we paid I expected better--a place in the city newer can be cheaper. The good thing about this room was the bed--it was a good one-pillows and mattress--LOVELY but that is where it ended--the room needs to be updated--everything looked pretty worn-carpet stains--
What more can you say-we got their late and we left early--just probably won't stay again

We booked 2 rooms. A single King room which was plenty large and very clean. Our family stayed in the one bedroom suite. It had a pull out sofa in the living room. The room was very large and clean. With the hotel being totally booked it still didn't seem to busy or noisy. The kids and adults loved the pool playing basketball and using the slides and hot tub. We stayed at the hotel because we were having a large party (20) people at the Red Eye Grill. The location made it convenient for our group. The restaurant was excellent and all our guests were very happy with the food. We were able to make reservations at the restaurant and they were very accommodating. So a great win- win with our stay and a having group gathering. We all loved the hotel.

very quiet room, bed was very comfortable. We slept like babies. One of the best Holiday Inn & Suites I have ever stayed. The rooms were clean. My only complaint was the coffee in the room, not very tastey, and why do hotels not ever have enough cream in the rooms? But I am a little pickey about my coffee.

We chose the Holiday Inn & Suites in Lakeville, MN for our kids. We could have chose a hotel closer to the attractions we were visiting but the hotel's pool area was worth the drive & the extra cost. The huge indoor pool area has a very large kiddie pool area with a little slide and lots of sprayers. The larger pool has a nice waterslide that empties into water that's roughly 3 1/2 feet. So it makes it easy for parents to catch children coming down the slide, if needed. Note: Children need to be 48" or taller to use the larger waterslide.

We stayed in a poolside room. While it was convenient to enter the pool area from your room there are disadvantages to staying poolside. 1) Unable to lock/unlock the sliding door from the pool deck, 2) room darker than normal since poolside rooms don't have outside windows, 3) can by noisy as pool hours are from 8 a.m.- 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 8 a.m.- 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday. The hotel had easy access doors to the pool area so a poolside room is not a necessity. If we were to visit again I would choose a room that wasn't poolside. People were still leaving pool area at 10:30 on a Monday but after that the hotel was quiet.

The hotel was clean, staff friendly, room efficiently outfitted. Our kids were given "kids eat free" coupons for the hotel restaurant and we were told to come back to the desk for more coupons if needed. The restaurant was very good & the kids loved their fire grilled pizzas. The hotel does provide room service but we did not use the service (and the kid eat free coupons are not valid for room service). Considering the price of a basic room here one might expect coffee in the lobby all day as one would find in a Towneplace Suites or Hampton Inn & Suites but not here. There was a coffee urn set up with very small cups right away in the morning but it didn't stay very long. Overall it was a nice stay & the kids loved the pool.

This Holiday Inn served it's purpose, which was to provide a comfortable place for out of town guests to stay for a wedding. So given that our needs were met, it should get a top rating. Beds are extremely comfy in newly refurbished Holiday Inns. You have a choice of pillow firmness, all labeled and in your room, ready to go. All in all it's there and your needs are met for a restful night. We had shuttle service to our wedding reception, by kind and helpful drivers who were right on schedule. All of that being said, the age old hotels that surround swimming pools (Holidomes?) are dark. The interior rooms have no natural light. If you get an outer room you have no worries, but poolside rooms may bring out the claustrophobic in you! If you have little ones you may want to risk it because the pool area looks inviting for kids, but you definitely want to request natural light. There is a restaurant attached that serves a very good basic breakfast. Very few negatives, but not a show stopper.

Room Tip: Ask for an outer room.
