Podere Campaini
Reviewed 26 August 2014

We had a fabulous time at Podere Campaini this summer. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the beautiful panorama of the Tuscan hills and breathtaking views of Volterra. The Campaini family could not have been more hospitable. They were always extremely helpful and went out of their way to help us to make the most of our stay in a very discreet manner. The rooms were of a rustic style with plenty of charm, but also very clean and well-equipped. I would suggest renting a car if you wish to explore the wider area due to the location of the villa.

We actually had our wedding ceremony in Volterra town centre and our reception back at Podere Campaini. This was an absolutely magical backdrop for our rustic style Tuscan wedding and we cannot praise and thank the Campaini family enough for their calm, friendly and efficient approach to the whole holiday and wedding day. Thank you for an unforgettable experience! :)

On arrival to the villa we were greeted by Cassandra and were shown around the rooms that we had booked (It was a group holiday for a wedding). the rooms were large and each bedroom had its own bathroom. the kitchen was tidy and easy to use however there wasn't an oven only a hob and a microwave. the pool area was clean and the pool was cleaned everyday. the villa is about 15-20 minutes drive from Volterra in which you can find the supermarkets and go sightseeing. a car is needed when staying here but you can get a taxi however there is not a lot of taxis for the town.

This is a very lovely property just north of Volterra, right in the heart of central Tuscany.
Gorgeous scenery. Cassandra is a great host. The apartments are simple and clean. Good cooking facilities, if desired. Not far from Volterra and one hour of beautiful scenery from San Gim.
Best for families.

We got terribly lost on our way to Campaini. (to be fair, this was not the first time we were lost in our rental car in Italy!) Cassandra says most people have either GPS or phone, and I would recommend either if planning to drive in Italy for any distance. She was incredibly kind and helped us with instructions to Florence and Pisa.
Once we settled in we didn't want to leave! It was a wonderful retreat from the busy-ness of travel and we thoroughly enjoyed recuperating here. The apartment was spacious, had a great mattress and had plenty of hot water, a kitchenette with all the necessities, and a view that goes on forever. Recommended for sure!

we stayed at the podere campaini for three nights in june this year and it was perfect, its a little hard to find and we had to phone cassandra who sent a search party out for us :) our apartment was on the first floor and was perfect, it had everything we needed, fridge, microwave, cooker, pots and pans. it was spotlessly clean. the bathroom was new and all the decor was to a high standard, the bedroom has blackout shutters on the inside of the room and they worked perfectly and the bed was fantastic probably one of the best we've slept in on our travels. the location was perfect for us after a busy day in florence or pisa it was nice to come back and just relax and as we had the place to ourselves it was even better, we had breakfast once but as we were the only guests in the house we felt guilty having cassandra get everything ready just for us so we picked some things up ourselves and sat outside in the morning and ate while enjoying the scenery and watching the swifts feeding around the house. the pictures really don't do this place justice it really is beautiful and so peaceful. a few hints to finding it, when you go past the hotel molina d,era on the left follow the road round across the bridge then round to the right (not up the hill) around 1km the road bends to the right, don't go right, go straight on for around 500m and you will see a sign for the hotel on the left up the track.i really can't begin to explain how perfect this place is, don't hesitate just book it you won't be disappointed.

We have just spent 10 days at Podere Campaini and echo all the positive comments made about the appartments. Our appartment was on the first floor overlooking the pool and was very spacious and cool.Having 2 showerooms was great with 3 teenagers. The swimming pool was fantastic and kept spotlessly clean, we often had it to ourselves. The area around the farm is beautiful, Volterra and San Gimigano both interesting to visit. The only downside was that we found it hard to find initially,so recommend either a gps or make sure you head towards the hotel Molina d'era.

A location away from mechanical noise, can you beleive it?
No car, no air corridor so no plane, it is silence that is most noticeable.
The kindness of the owner as if they were familly.
The unparalleled beauty of the place better than the pictures.
The confort of our appartment, spacious, bedding, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, cleanliness, the swimming pool, car park, the tuscan countyside, the deer at dusk so close, everything is excellent.
Proximity of the main cities and the small ones (by car).
You will understand, I recommend I recommend and I want to come back...
