We just returned from a two night stay at the Scandinavian Inn in Lanesboro. This was a wonderful inn with comfortable rooms, gracious hosts, great shared living quarters, and delicious and creative gourmet breakfasts. We would definitely stay here on return trips to the area. This is a great location for taking in some of the scenic bike trails that go through the area.

My husband and I experienced a wonderful stay at the Scandinavian Inn on March 23. Hosts Peter and Vicki were warm and relaxed as they invited us to share their love for their beautiful Victorian home. The parlor areas provided nooks for reading and listening to music
as well as a piano for guests to play. We stayed in the Turret Room and especially enjoyed the fine linens, beautiful bed quilts and guest soaps. Actually, Peter and Vicki do an outstanding job of using organic and local produce and meats, and even drying the sheets on the line in good weather, which we have had in abundance this Spring in southern Minnesota.
Early morning coffee was left on a table outside of our room as the hosts prepared a full breakfast for us. Today's menu included juice, freshly baked lemon bread, double chocolate muffins, an array of fruits from mango cubes to blueberries, a puffed apple pancake, farm sausages, and eggs. It was hard to choose from so many delicious treats! Chatting with Peter and Vicki was especially interesting since we were the only guests eating in the dining room this morning. They proved as interested in us as we were in getting to know them. We left the table very satisfied after enjoying a delightful breakfast!

I LOVED the Scandinavian Inn. It has beautiful furniture, beautiful decorations - - not cluttered like some B & B's. And it was spotlessly clean. We had an absolutely great experience at breakfast. The food was spectacular - - mangoes, kiwi, puff pancakes, feta/spinach omelet, shirred eggs, sausage, muffins and breads. They really pulled out all the stops. Peter and Vicki are warm and welcoming and VERY accommodating. (They made an omelet for me since I couldn't eat the puff pastry.) Our conversation at breakfast was so lively and so much fun. We had a ball. This is a new destination inn for my sister and me. I give it a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10!

Room Tip: Let Peter and Vicki know what's important to you. They have a brand new addition to the house wh...

This B&B was wonderful! Peter and Vicki went out of their way to make the entire stay pleasant for everyone in our group. They introduced us to the other group that was staying there and made everyone feel welcome and important. We had a great time visiting with the other group, as well as Peter and Vicki. The food was exceptional. More than anyone could eat! The rooms were clean and very comfortable. One of our rooms was the Balcony room and we had our breakfast delivered via the dumb waiter and ate in our room. It was a fun experience! I would HIGHLY recommend the Scandinavian Inn!

Room Tip: In addition the the dumb waiter, the Balcony room has a private balcony.

A very civilized B&B in a tourist-trap town. It was recommended to us by friends so we booked the turret room. Clean, comfortable bed but separate bathroom. Sufficiently private and quiet for us. We go to B&B's to meet people and exchange travel experiences. Much to our disappointment, it turned out to be a Twin Cities South environment, with 8 other people not inclined to converse with those who were not born & raised in eastern Minnesota. The hosts provided a fancy, innovative, well-prepared, sit-down breakfast at the very late hour of 9 am, and orchestrated the meal well. By the time we were done, it was lunch-time. Unfortunately, the hosts were no flexible in their breakfast time. If we left early, we left withou. We will not be staying there again.

Room Tip: Get a room with a private bath; the separate bath is a drag.

The innkeepers are wonderful. The house is very cozy. The bed very comfortable. And the highlight is the massive and delicious breakfast. Take your time, relax and enjoy the luxurious start to the day.

Beautiful victorian home and gorgeous antique furniture throughout. Vicki and Peter are very friendly and super helpful about the area. The accomodations are comfortable but the absolute standouts here are the food and the owners. Vicki and Peter couldn't be more friendly and accomodating and the food.... WONDERFUL! Each breakfast featured 2 types of sweet breads, all delicious, a beautiful bowl of fresh fruit, usually an egg dish with local eggs and local produce and a side of meat if you so choose and often potatoes as a side. I am a vegetarian and they were very accomodating. Breakfast was definitely enough food to last you until dinner, even with tons of biking or other activities. I also liked that in keeping with being environmentally sensitive they had not only line dried towels and sheets but karafes of water in a mini fridge in the hallway upstairs that was wonderfully cold after a sweaty bike ride. If you like maple syrup they sell the syrup that they make themselves from their own trees! It is out of this world. The location of the inn is easy to find and close to the bike path and they have bike storage if you need it. I will definitely stay there again if I am back in the area and would highly recommend it.
