We have stayed here for a long weekend for three years and love it. It's a great location....we park our car and don't use it again until we leave. We love sitting on the hill and having a cocktail and appetizers ( which we bring with us) before heading across to Root on the River for dinner. The rooms are cozy and clean..all we need as we aren't in them much. The Innkeepes are great..happy to sit and visit or to leave us alone, if they perceive that is our preference. Do be aware of the two day weekend minimum....

My hubby and I went to Lanesboro for a couple of days to bicycle. While we pick destinations for their biking opportunities we also look for quality accommodations to spend our non-biking time. Brewster's Aspen apt was a great fit. The hillside location was quiet and private. Two nice clean rooms, small kitchenette and a spacious deck made for a relaxing stay. Because we were just steps from everything hubby could have a 2nd beer at dinner (no driving).

Made a reservation a week before the day to stay could not view rooms on web page so called, no mention was made that they required two weeks to cancel room. Called to cancel and they promptly charged my credit card for full amount plus. Unfriendly rude people.

My husband and I decided to take a last-minute trip to Lanesboro. We had been there many times before, but had never stayed at Brewsters. We will plan to stay there from now on! It was like home away from home :) From the moment we showed up we were hooked-- beautiful gardens, green space to play a yard game, and build a fire at night. Our room was immaculate, we had every amenity we needed, including peace and quiet! In the morning a cute indoor porch was a great place to grab a cup of coffee and a bagel. We were thinking if there was a rainstorm, that porch would be a perfect place to play cards or games for the day. The owners (Pam and Jim) were so nice, they even brought us wine glasses to our room as we had purchased a bottle of wine from the local winery. Made us feel so welcome!! Gail & Eric, Minnesota

Room Tip: There is something for everyone here, they will explain the rooms.

This was our first stay at Brewster's Red Hotel and found it to be very clean, well main-tainted, and just all around very accommodating. The owners Jim and Pam were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again when we return to the area.

We loved this place! Beautify taken care of, the owners, Jim and Pam went over and above what would have been expected. The rooms were exceptionally clean and well maintained, they had coffee and bagels every morning that we could enjoy on the decks while we relaxed and planned our day. Every thing we needed we found at The Red Hotel; ice, indoor bike parking, BBQ grill, they had it all covered. The hotel is right across the street from the bike trail and within walking distance to several places to dine as well as shopping. We will be returning next year to celebrate our anniversaries again! It was fabulous! We have decided to make The Red Hotel an annual adventure.

Room Tip: We can't wait until next year!

If you are alone you may like the place except for the rates (150 a night) but in our case my family rented 4 of the 9 rooms they have to offer and have for the last eight years, we were not able to get a room there so we found one that was close by. When we went to vist with my family we relaxed and started to play a bean bag tournie. The new owners abruptly confronted us and told us we were not allowed on the premises because we were not registered guests. They told us that it would be like going to Vegas and staying at one hotel and using another hotels pool! We never used their facilities, we were outside playing yard games.

We were not aware of their $4/day fee, all they had to do was ask for some money! We would have gladly paid that. Instead they made a scene in front of the entire family and we were unable to spend the night with my family, one Aunt being from L.A. whom we hardly ever see, parents and brother from Mpls, and sister from Decorah and all the inlaws and kids.

After meeting the new owners I would never recommend this place as a destination for anyone who has family or friends who you want to have over as the new owners have no better thing to do than patrol the premises for anyone that has not paid for a room and have no people skills in conveying their policies in a civilized manner, they would rather make a scene or call the cops!
