“Nightmare of a stay!!”
Reviewed 31 December 2013

Don't get me wrong the room/hotel and staff was great!! The thing that made my stay terrible was the parents that brought their children to the hotel and left them unattended all night while they were off doing their New Years partying!!! The kids were running up and down the halls upstairs and downstairs screaming at each other from the end of the halls. Only so much the staff can do when they have other things to attend to and they were doing their best to chase down the kids.

Room Tip: This is a pet friendly hotel and they usually put people with pets on the bottom floor inside door...

I stayed here on a two night trip to Mankato for work. The check-in process went smoothly and the room was great. I had a king room on the first floor near the back of the hotel. The room was great and the free breakfast was too. They had a pancake machine that made pancakes I would actually eat! They were wonderful. Great service at the desk, convenient location, and free breakfast made it a great place for someone in town for work.

Room Tip: The pancake machine is amazing! Wake up and venture down to breakfast!

we arrived late, the front desk was friendly.. When we walked to our room which was on ground floor the chlorine smell from the pool was very strong. We had a little trouble with our key working each time. The room was comfortable but a little dated. We used the pool which was good and the hot tub.. Breakfast was GREAT..

We want to thank you for choosing to stay with us and giving us the opportunity to provide you with the superior customer service we pride ourselves in. We appreciate hearing your thoughts regarding your stay. We have had our key encoders replaced since your stay so hopefully that problem is gone. It was difficult to determine whether the actual problem was the keys, key locks, encoder, or human error/storage. We are confident that it was corrected. We are continuing to complete design renovations. We hope you will stay with us again the next time you are in town.

Thank-you,

Very poor front desk staff. No customer service. No lotion (which is needed especially for any motel having a pool. ) When I asked the front desk if they had any lotion my inquiry was met only with a gruff and impolite"NO"!

Room Tip: Poor service, poor staff, average rooms, do not recommend.

Rooms here were obviously recently upgraded, and were pleasant with flatscreen, microwave, fridge. Heat/AC in both our rooms were very noisy (see below) Oddly, though a BW Plus the bath didn't include a lotion -- just shampoo, soap and conditioner. Breakfast was fine, with real scrambled eggs, though the dining area looked like a temporary setup around their enclosed pool area.

Staff very pleasant, and acted immediately when we requested a room change. And that's the really odd part about this hotel -- its layout. About 1/2 the rooms on 2 floors face inward -- and inward means they open directly onto the enclosed pool area -- no fresh air or real daylight. lst floor rooms even open there. We moved immediately upon realizing our room was right over the hot tub, and the smell of pool chlorine. So be forewarned. Friends with us stayed with their inward room and did note the hotel was careful to get all pool users out at the declared 10:00 close. PS Heat/AC noisy in both rooms, but after moving 1 x and having same issue and only staying one night we elected to stay put and turn the system off during the night until it got too chilly.

Room Tip: If you want fresh air and a view of the outdoors be sure to avoid inward facing rooms that open up o...

We greatly appreciate your positive comments and letting us know how we can improve.
You are correct that the tables set up in that area were temporary. When we know that the hotel is going to be busy we set up our Breakfast out there in order to handle the volume of guests in a timely manner. We are currently remodeling that area to add a permanent breakfast set up along with new tables and chairs to improve the guest’s experience. You probably noticed where it will be but we are waiting for the quartz countertops and cabinetry to be installed along with the doors. We are very excited about it. We hope you will come back and see us again so you can enjoy them. We will certainly work with you to get an outside room.

Thank-you,

We booked this hotel as it was one of the only ones available in Mankato for Family Weekend at the college. For starters....it was hard to determine where the lobby was from the outside. Our room was ok, but the heater/ac didn't really work that great. The pool/pool area....well the a/c was on and it was freezing. The pool was cold and when we asked the front desk to turn it off, it took them forever. The floors outside the pool area were so cold it was like walking on ice. I nearly fell 10+ times. The sauna wasn't working. The hot tub/whirlpool was warm but the jets didn't work. The breakfast....well, for a hotel that was basically sold out, the staff were no where prepared for the number of guests to be eating. We waited for sausages, eggs, bread, milk, juice, plates, silverware, pancake batter(the handle was broken and they attempted to fix it 3 times). And the a/c was on full force, blowing extremely cold air over the seating area, and the food when it finally came out got cold as we walked to the tables, due to the temperature in the pool area. What a disappointment. I am not sure where the "Remodeling" was going on per the sign, but I can make them a list for the future. People, please read the reviews and listen to them. I wish I would have, but I needed a room for me and my family. I should have booked in St. Peter. The extra drive may have been worth it this time.

We appreciate hearing your thoughts regarding your stay. We understand your concern about where to enter the hotel. We are in the process of refurbishing the outside of our hotel and will be taking the sign that says “Best Webster’s” (which is the name of our restaurant) off of the drive up area because it does tend to distort people.

Obviously there was a problem with where the temperature was set in the pool area. We go from one day warm and need air and the next day cold and need heat. Our staff thought they were heating up the area and in reality they were cooling it down. I apologize that they did not get it corrected.

Please know that your comments have been addressed and steps are being taken to ensure these types of issues are handled on a preventive basis. We hope you will stay with us again the next time you are in town.

Our daughter and son in law had their wedding reception here following the ceremony at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. Nice sized space for the reception - plenty of room for dancing, plus set up for comfortable seating for 200. Buffet dinner was very good. They had a poolside social hour prior to the reception, and there was ample space and seating for that as well. These tables were still up Sunday morning, so our group was able to eat the complimentary breakfast in this area, and had room for many people to eat and visit. Very large pool and surrounding area. The hotel is older, but they are in the process of doing some remodeling. We are not from the area, so it was very handy to have the reception at the same place we were staying. We had reserved a block of rooms, but we were scattered throughout the large hotel - not sure why, and it was fine, but would have been fun to have our rooms closer together. I would recommend this hotel for a wedding reception - easy to work with and the perfect size and space for a group of 200.
