Been going to Taste of India for years and it has always been fairly good and consistent. Went there in Feb 2014 and I think it is even better than it was. Food was fresh and they had some new items in the buffet. Highly recommnend this place. My only complaint to the owners is to brighten the place up with better lighting and on cold days, turn the heat up a bit. Windows al face north so it can be a bit dark.

Everything is good here. We usually get dal, tikka masala, chicken vindaloo, curry, and naan. This time we also got palak and an appetizer, but I'm not sure what it was called. Dinners are $10-13 and are somewhat small servings and come with very good basmati rice. The Indian tea is also very good with sugar. Very good flavor to the food. You can choose your level of spiciness: mild, medium, or hot. There is also a weekday buffet, but I have not tried it.

My family has been dining here for years. The lunch buffet is extremely popular on weekends, offering a variety of vegetarian, chicken and meat dishes. My favorites include the Curry Pakora, Alub Gobi, and Banarsi Biryani - all prepared with gentle spicing. The Naan is absolutely delicious. My young adult daughter rates the chicken dishes as very good. While iced tea is my typical beverage, I can also highly recommend the Laasi yogurt drinks.

The buffet on a weekend is our typical visit, but I also highly recommend dinner, when one can order off off of the full menu.

Other reviewers have noted that the decor is a bit worn - but the outstanding food more than makes up for that. Don't be fooled by the unassuming location and building, either - this is a great restaurant.

Off Hwy 36 in Maplewood Minnesota sits a very unpretentious restaurant serving "Tasty Indian Food".On entering this low key restaurant you are greeted by a family member who welcomes you with a warm manner and seats you quickly at a very clean table with settings in place.Once settled, you are given time to read the comprehensive menu.
My wife and I are frequent visitors at both lunch time and dinner. Yesterday, for dinner,we had plain Naan, one of the 4 choices, plus there is varied choices of Appetizers, followed by plain Naan bread, plus more choices. For Entrees we picked Chicken Palak and Scallop Makhani.Superbly cooked with subtle taste of spinach for the Palak and creamy sauce with raisins and cashews. There is a wide choice of condiments,Indian Beer and other drinks. The Indian tea is delicious and brings back memories of India.Of course save room for desert.
It is always a delight to come here and enjoy a large variety of the taste of Indian food.

The lunch buffet is good at $9.99 if you like this kind of food. However, the ala carte evening menu is overpriced, under served (portions are too small) and VERY salty. Plus, the bathrooms are filthy and badly in need of repainting. This was once a far better place, but they have gradually declined in quality over the years.
