“Intimate setting”
Reviewed 23 November 2013 via mobile

Smallish, older, charming, yet intimate setting, As the name implies, seats all around the performance space, so close you feel like you're on the stage. Have enjoyed two wonderful performances there. Rest of the 2013/014 season looks interesting, We'll be back.

“Odd version of a classic, nicely done”
Reviewed 10 July 2013

Not sure how close to the original this productions is but in an effort not to be a spoiler, won't belabor that point here. Had the fun feel all in all of the Agatha Christie era, which is what we all desire. Have to say, there was a tense feeling with the house managers stalking about and looking concerned over.....not sure what! Seats not the comfiest, have a feeling this place in its 60 year has many devotees and not much concern about these details. NIce places nearby to get a nosh and a glass of wine, as this theatre does not feature refreshments. Was hoping for a bit more to be honestl

“Value, Location and Entertainment”
Reviewed 4 March 2010

This small venue is one of the oldest theaters in the metro area and offers live theatre about three days a week. Performances are normally for a a for week period or so. There range is from classic to first run. Sets are modest but you have some good actors on the stage. The cost is about $10.00 a ticket and they are in the west bank area by the University of Minnesota. If you are on a tight budget and want to see good theater give this place a try.

Parking is best found in a nearby hotel ramp. food options are not great nearby but there are a few with in an easy walk. In the summer this area is full of college age kids, so beware the crowds.

“Best theatre for the price!”
Reviewed 7 October 2008

I was turned on to this theatre years ago by a friend. I was told not to dress up, as it was pretty much a "come as you are" place, and he was right. It has become my favorite place in Minneapolis to catch a play.
The theatre is small, and there is no "bad seat". Preformances are very well done, and they have all the glory of the plays I have seen elsewhere, yet ticket prices range from about $15-20, depending on if it is a musical or not. All tickets are the same price. It is a small theatre. seating no more than about 250, if I have my numbers right. They are a "jeans and t-shirt" place, yet some do dress up to come here. It's a great place to spend a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday afternoon.
It's located on the West Bank of the U, and with Grandma's Saloon, Chipolte, Noodles, and Sargent Prestons (and several other restaurants within walking distance), it makes for a delightful evening.
I am from the area, and have been a season ticket holder for years, and never been disappointed at a preformance. As I said, it's a lot more laid back than the Guthrie or Ordway, and the prices can't be beat!
I would highy recommend it to anyone who is spending a weekend in Minneapolis. Check them out at TRP.org.
