“A pragmatic oddity”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2014

The Minneapolis skyway system networks the second (and in one case, third) floor of skyscrapers dotted throughout the downtown. This is great when you are staying in an area hotel and is extremely useful to the thousands of corporate employees that work downtown, as they can leave their coats in the highway while seeking lunch in one of the many lunch-only restaurants open. There are a few hidden gems in the highway: Muddy Waters coffee, the food court on the fourth floor of Gaavidae Commons and the occasional pop-up art gallery or clothing boutique. The main disadvantage of the skyway is that the doors between buildings are usually locked by 9 pm and most of the businesses along it close at 5 pm. Also, watch out: there have been multiple recent thefts/muggings on LaSalle Avenue, right outside the downtown Target. There are unobtrusive emergency call buttons along the walls of the skyway paths - keep an eye out for them, just in case.

“That's the way to do it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2014

Though our visit to Minneapolis was in June, and the weather was for the most part great - this 7 mile tunnel in the sky was very impressive - particularly as the winters here are, apparently, very severe. On our last afternoon, we were on Nicolette Mall and it started to rain - no drama - simply found the nearest Skyway entry point, and navigated our way back to our hotel - simples.

“A Friendly Facility Indeed”

The importance of skyway system is felt intensely during winter. To date, there could be no better alternative to the skyway system to travel around downtown Minneapolis without freezing in winter.

“What A Secret.....................”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

Crikey................we thought living inside was a futuristic thing but Minneapolis Skyway System caught us by surprise....it is fabtastic to walk around the City inside.
Apparently Winter is soooo cold that going out is a no no.!

One can walk thru office blocks banks and shopping Malls all around this lovely City.
It was roasting when we were there and there were visitors angels or some other title which we forget no but....ask them a question and nothing is too much trouble............every city should adopt this right away......so welcoming and friendly.

Loved......and surprised or rather delighted with the Skyway System.

“Fantastic way to get around downtown Minneapolis in January!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

The skyway system in Minneapolis is second to none. There is no better way to get around, during the winter months! Plenty of places to eat and get a coffee (or even shop) along the way! Highly recommended.
