I have never thought the food is as tasty as others have thought. It's good and healthy, but, for the price, I have had healthy very tasty meals at a number of other places. Seems to be living on the reputation. And the service reflects that with attitude of "we are great, you are lucky to be here."

Take a deep breath, go back to what made you great, don't rest on the laurels, and actually turn out dishes worth the price point.

We love Lucia's. This is a place for a special meal. The dinner menu is limited; about 4 or 5 options, so you may wish to check the menu on line before you go. We have always found the food to be prepared perfectly. The foods are fresh and ingredients frequently local. On our recent visit, I had Callister Chicken, which was awesome.
The restaurant is an older building with atmosphere. It feels homey and friendly. This is our destination for a special meal.
Note that parking is limited. They do have valet parking which is frequently your only option.

It started out with five of us squashed at a table for four (we were not the only group seated like this) on hard wooden chairs. This meant that we spent the evening bobbing and weaving as the servers walked behind to get to another table and reached between us to serve and clear. Really, when you are going to spend $50 or more person, shouldn't you be comfortable? Tiny cups of ordinary soup, average salads, small overpriced entrees, fatty duck that tasted like boiled chicken, tasteless petit filet with a salty demi glace. A terrible waste of almost $300. As we were leaving we heard the valet parking attendant turn away a guest to the restaurant because he said the lot was full. Really, how is that ever acceptable?

I had a very nice solo dinner here a few weeks ago, sitting outside and watching the world go by. I had a nice wild rice soup with a clear broth - it was a really small cup and did lack a bit of 'depth', an interesting vegetarian entree (which did see m a bit pricey at $20) and they tempted me with a delicious chocolate dessert (which I could not finish even though it was wonderful.)
Everything is fresh, the service is friendly but needs to be just a tad more professional. I woudl certainly recommend.

Lucia's Wine Bar is the middle of three different dining opportunities created by the skillful hands of Lucia Watson, the other two being a bakery and a white table cloth restaurant. Each is excellent in its own way. We like the Wine Bar because we can go there in late afternoon without a reservation and have a good meal.

They usually have a small beef tenderloin on the menu that is just the right size for our smaller appetites, and this time it came with a subtle whisky demi glaze. We started with the house bruschetta which was a little odd, with not a piece of tomato in sight (goat cheese, pesto, and olive tapenade, all very rich). A bottle of Tuileries Bordeaux was delicious and "only" $29.

This is a very small place with outside seating in good weather. The décor is old brick walls and tin ceilings, plus some nice French posters. It is very comfortable, and the young servers are helpful and friendly. It is a pleasant refuge in busy Uptown.

The date of our visit was September 8, 2013.
