Saffron was a delight. We went during restaurant week and had a wonderful dinner with friends. As a huge fan of hummus I could have just eaten the appetizer myself but I had to share. We had three courses and each were amazing!!

Thanks for the great review! If you want to catch us for Restaurant Week again, we participate in all of them...or come in just to grab that hummus you love =)

I couldn't have asked for anything more from this dining experience, other than a slightly more attentive server. The food was fantastic, the menu offered an array of tantalizing selections, and the mulled cider (non-alcoholic) was delicious. I enjoyed the chic yet not-overbearing decor; it was elegant, but comfortable. I'm impressed, (but not surprised after dining here) that this place has won awards from Minneapolis/St. Paul magazine six of the seven years it's been open!

Saffron has been our Valentines Day choice the past few years. The tasting menu is why we head to saffron. The regular menu is great, but the special tasting menus during the year are worth making the trip downtown Minneapolis. The price is more than reasonable, the greeters are so warm and kind, the waiters have all been professional and the food outstanding. We enjoy the look and layout of the room. The two of us prefer the table for two by the rear fire door. Its quiet and a great place to people watch. Parking is $10 in the adjacent lot or street parking if you can find it for $4 (two hours). Area is safe. Drinks are also very good. Enjoy.

Pork belly-- fantastic. Love the beautifully ethnic decor. The chef came out to suggest some small plate items for us. We sat at the bar.

Saffron advertises itself both as a restaurant and a lounge. It's definitely more of a restaurant. The food menu is somewhat limited given the famous chef who runs the place but their food is very good and interesting. Cocktails are great but pricy and the lounge atmosphere is nowhere to be found. A nice detail that the place is not very loud, and the patrons are very polite, mostly young and very nice. Service is very good and quick. This is not a place where you will run into drunks who can't stand/talk/walk so you can actually really enjoy food. The location if this place is not good. It's tucked away in a part of downtown with very little pedestrian traffic next to a highway exit. The space they use simply doesn't suit them and it ruins the atmosphere to a degree. The restrooms are awful (at least the ones for men are) and that's a shame. Nothing can spoil a nice dinner as a nasty restroom.
They need to redo their image. Find a better and livelier location, expand the menu, sort out those nasty restrooms.
