It's a Day's Inn, so don't expect anything spectacular. However, the secret of this property is its location. The hotel is 3 miles from downtown but incredibly well connected. The hotel operates a free shuttle every hour that will drop you at any location downtown (Saving 20 dollars for each trip). There is also a bus that leaves from the front of the hotel every 10 minutes to downtown. Most excitingly, the new light rail (which will run 24 hours) will start operating from here in June 2014. SO for the price ( a third less than the downtown hotels) it was a great deal.
The rooms are standard sized, there are no closets (just hangers) and the view is of a parking lot. However, the bed is comfortable and the TV works. The airconditioners are old and a little noisy and the wifi coverage is spotty in the rooms. The hotel is walking distance from the stadium, and the stadium village (a sort of downtwon strip with restuarants, dive bars and a cvs).
The staff however was incredibly friendly and helpful with great attitudes and were willing to help even late into the night. They were happy to arrange my rather complicaed pick up and drops to town. I also observed that they were great dealing with many of the guests who were here for medical treatment at the local hospital.
Dear R D,
Thanks so much for the lovely review of the Days Hotel on University! Our location is absolutely amazing and we are over the moon for the Light Rail to open in the next couple weeks. On your next visit, perhaps you could use the Light Rail and go the other direction into downtown St Paul rather than Minneapolis. The Green Line Light Rail will connect both cities from Target Field all the way past the capital in St Paul to Union Depot.
Staff is very polite and helpful. The rooms on third floor are comfortable but the fifth floor rooms leave a little to be desired. The shower only had two settings hot or hotter. Beds where hard. When we stayed on third the beds where soft and comfortable.
Dear Kim B,
Thanks so much for taking time to write about your recent stay. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and we can put a note in your profile that you have a 3rd floor preference on your next visit. Thanks so much and have a great day!
