While renting our car from Hertz @ the Brisbane Airport we were chatting with the agent about places he might recommend we visit while in Queensland. He suggested an area with a couple of charming towns that locals like to visit. We liked the young man, and decided to take his suggestion, and headed off in that direction. After stopping at the Wildlife Hospital at the famous Steve Irwin's Australian Zoo, we began making our way up into the mountains in search of the two towns, Montville and Maleny, and The Glasshouse Mountains. The area is beautiful. From the mountains you can see for long distances off in the directions of the coast and the Glasshouse Mountains. The views are really quite amazing. Late in the afternoon we decided to begin looking for a place to stay for the night. We passed a B&B up on a hill that had a sign advertising rooms for $95 per night. We decided to turn around and inquire. It turned out to be one of those decisions you are so pleased that you made. What we found was something very special. The proprietors, Brigitte and Peter, have created a little paradise on the mountain. The flowers and gardens are immaculate and so incredibly beautiful. Brigitte is in the habit of placing a flower blossom on each visitors bed when they arrive, and the bed had a couple of Teddy Bears nestled up against the pillows. The rooms are spotlessly clean, well decorated; with a well equipped kitchen area. The bathrooms are very spacious. Provided you arrange it ahead of time, they will prepare a breakfast for you at a very modest and reasonable price. On the long porch outside the rooms, table and chairs are available for sitting outside to enjoy your meals, tea or coffee while watching the amazing galleh and rainbow lorikeets at the bird feeder just a few feet away. Brigitte and Peter are a storehouse of information, and go out of their way to suggest what you might do, direct you on your way, and teach you about the wildlife and plants of the area. They have a remarkable gift of making you feel completely welcome. We enjoyed our stay there so much, we were sorry that we had to leave so soon.
