Stayed in all three of the connected units on Nokomis which made the beautiful home a 4 bedroom. There is even a washer and dryer. We cooked almost all of the meals so can only say that the breakfast buffet is quite good. It has bacon, sausage several egg dishes, sweet goodies, fruit and lots of other wonderful delights.

The beach is a gem. Enough chairs, kayaks, boats, etc. We took three high school students with us and all of them had a wonderful time. One of them called it a, "once in a lifetime opportunity." That might be an exaggeration but non-the-less fun to add.

My only concern is that occasionally they ran out of towels at the pool. We will just bring beach towels when we return next year.

Room Tip: The Nokomis units are brand new and have very nice amenities granite, stainless steel etc. Also, th...

I should preface this by saying that we are returning there two more times this year. The activities are fun, the restaurants are good, and the staff you interact with are wonderful.

This should be a 5-star resort. But it is not. The management is horrible. They bait and switch, they overcharge (and hope you don't notice), and they outright lie. They know what they have going for them. If you call them on it, they have no interest in making it right. Their only offer is to cancel future reservations. Because, in truth, they can fill the space. It is a nice resort but don't expect to be treated like you matter. It is clear that all guests are fungible.

This guest, who has been a patron of Grand View Lodge, attempted to purchase a spa package that was not available for the specific time frame that she desired. We have multiple spa packages built throughout the year that allow our guests an experience they won’t find anywhere else, and that can be used only during certain time periods.

After multiple, futile attempts to directly contact this guest, and multiple reasonable solutions to amend the situation and help make this particular guest happy, she has done nothing but be ill tempered and berating towards our staff, filing several email complaints to several employees, and now, trying to publicly defame us. We have tried everything to accommodate her, but she will not come to terms with anything we can provide. This even includes full refunds on her future stays.

We appreciate and take care of all our guests as we truly would not be in business without them. We take great strides in making sure each guest has a great stay with the opportunity to take in and enjoy all the amenities we have to offer. It is discerning when a guest makes an unqualifying demand for something we cannot offer and files grievances against the resort. It is truly unfortunate, but we will always move forward trying to help our guests create a lifetime of memories and maintain the quality of service we have been providing for almost 100 years.

This was a short getaway for us, a couple in our 50's. I've always wanted to stay here. The lodge itself is a historic landmark and the grounds couldn't be prettier in a north woods setting. The beach is very long and sandy and well kept. When we ate at one of the restaurants, our food was always great. We spent most of our time at the "Bay Colony" property where our unit was, which was huge, with a good layout and up to date. The Bay Colony/Gull Haven Area also has a nice long sandy beach.

At Grand View, you are paying for the service and the amenities and the setting. All are topnotch.

We stayed at the Interlachen cabins which are about a mile from the main result to the east, and still within view of the main Lodge. We rowed our kayaks across the lake from our cabin to the main lodge in about 20 minutes.

Anyway, a great place to stay. Our "cabin" was great, right on the water, right outside the docs where you could dock your boat/ski/etc. (we didn't have a boat). The cabin was very large, probably 1500 sq ft, with a large fully loaded kitchen, two bedrooms which each could sleep two people and the master included a whirlpool tub. The mud room has another pull out futon, and the upstairs loft was large and could sleep 5 or 6 but we only had 3 in the loft. So 7 people (including 2 small kids) were very comfortable in this cabin. We also cooked most our meals in to cut down on some foods costs and the loaded kitchen did great, no issues there.

Accommodations: 9/10 (it could have been a little cleaner)

Then there's the main lodge itself with all the activities....activities...activities! We did paddle boarding, and tubing, fishing and cruising, and ALL FREE! (just tip your drivers) The kids that work there, mostly teenagers working summer jobs, were all nice and professional- they enjoyed taking us out and having fun. They have lots of other paid activities too like water skiing and wake boarding which we didn't do. Except horseback riding, which was paid, but was also a very good time. I took my 5y/o for her first horseback trip and she loved it. The van takes you from the lodge to the ranch and back and it was about $70 for the two of us each with our own horse and they did let us trot and cantor around a bit. A total trip of about 3 hours. The pool area has lots to do for the kids including a large 2-story twisty water slide that I went down probably 5 times but that my daughter used for 3 hours straight.

The cabins at Interlachen had fire pits on the beaches every 50-75' and provided fire wood, so we made s'mores every night, as well as cooked brats and dogs over the fire. They do have docs available to rent but we didn't so I can't speak to their price. But the grounds were great, the exterior of cabins was clean and well kept, the interior was nice, spacious, great accommodations and amenities and plenty of room to roam.

Activities: 10/10

Next time I'll rent a boat or jetski for our time there- just to enjoy the water activities some more.

Otherwise it was a great trip. I reviewed another lodge "lost lake lodge" a couple years ago and Grand View Lodge has them beat top to bottom, left to right, hands down, now questions asked. They both have food packages but in my experiences they are way over priced and eventually you want a change of venue anyway.

Overall Grand View was a fantastic place. I can't wait to go back.

We just returned home from a six day stay with our adult children, their spouses and our four grandchildren. Our cabin for ten was perfect. Plenty of room for everyone and a playroom with football table, game table and big screen TV for the grandkids. We stayed in the Fairway part of the development .

We signed up online prior to our stay for activities and were very pleased with all that was offered for the included price. Our days were spent at the beach, banana boating, water tubing, took pontoon boat rides, fishing, biking riding, using the water park , water trampoline, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding , playing bingo or doing fitness classes. The activity staff were just fabulous, they were very clean cut, helpful and genuinely seemed interested in making our stay wonderful.

Everyone would love to return. The price is high but when you consider all that is included it is a good value. If you are looking for a beautiful, relaxing family vacation , then Grand View Lodge fits the bill.

We stayed at the Grand View Lodge for a wedding. We were told our room in the main lodge would be $345 per night and that we HAD to have the meal plan since we were staying on the main property (my sister-in-law also stayed in the main lodge and was not required to have a meal plan. We would have opted out if we knew that were an option). We thought this was quite a bit but might be worth it since we'd be close to everything.. Well, when we checked out, the room was actually $435 a night because of $80 in taxes and fees. We had no idea they would be THAT much. Also, we have a 1-year-old. Beware if you stay in the main lodge with a baby/toddler: there is NO elevator & only rooms upstairs after a huge flight of outdoor stairs. Had we known about this, we probably would have stayed in a clubhouse suite at the pines instead. Also, we had one supper after the wedding so we didn't even use one of our meal plan meals that we paid for & I'm sure they had to pay for our wedding meal as well so the lodge is double-dipping whenever there is a wedding and guests who have a meal plan. Oh, and at the "free" golf course you have to pay $20 to rent a cart which is just ridiculous for 9 holes (or you can walk). Just golf at the pines where your cart rental is included in the green fees. Overall, it was just not even close to worth the money you have to pay for what is basically a normal hotel room & mediocre accommodations (without a microwave).

Room Tip: If you have a small child, do not stay at the main lodge: no elevator!

We just returned home from another fabulous stay at this beautiful resort. The resort has everything. No need to leave once you arrive. A wonderful property with beautiful beaches, a variety of great restaurants, a fantastic spa, golf courses, lots of activities, awesome wedding venues, and a fantastic staff. On this trip we stayed in one of the newly renovated cabins down by the beach(unit 404.) Adorable! It is so tastefully done and charming. A great addition to the variety of lodging choices. Looking forward to our next stay!
