“MAJOR disappointment!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2012

My friend and I were super excited for a 2 hour getaway while our husbands watched the kids. We scheduled facials and massages. The process of scheduling the appointment should have been my first clue - it was a series of voicemail messages. We arrived at Thumper Pond to find no spa signage. When asked for directions, the front desk receptionist pointed us to the stairwell and told us to "go up." We walked up the stairs and found a door open to what looked like a nail salon - two chairs and a table with magazines in the reception area. We walked in to find no one in sight but greeted by an empty water pitcher sitting on a table with old fruit (strawberries and various melons) on the bottom. After a 10 minute plus wait, I joked to my friend about the pitcher and a woman came out from behind the front door - the bathroom and acknowledged us. She handed us the massage questionairre and asked us who would go first. We told her and she mixed us up immediately. I walked into the massage room with her to find a cold atmosphere and a radio she tried to turn on but couldn't figure out why it wouldn't play....5 minutes later, she opend a drawer and found the CD that was not in the radio. *sigh* this is the woman who was going to give me a "deep tissue" massage?!?!?! Like the previous reviewer, the massage was TERRIBLE - 4 years later, it's probably the same woman who lightly skimmed over all surfaces of my body - Seriously, my three year old applies greater pressure. And, I could hear my friend who was in the next room getting a facial - the sound is terrible. I could go on and on but end by reviewing the facial which was no better than what I apply at home and confirmed when at check out, the service provider handed me my credit card slip and said, "I took $5 off for you because I hurried your facial." Ummmm.....Overall, EPIC FAIL! Thumper Pond should NOT fool the vacationing public by offering Spa services as this is not what our $300 paid for.

“Nothing Serene about it”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2008

I booked a massage at Thumper Pond and regret doing so. During the massage, two women in the foyer area started talking and it sounded like they were right next to me. The therapist had the music cranked way up in attempts to drown out the exterior sound but to no avail. The massage I received was mediocre at best, I asked for firm pressure but got what I call a 'skin massage'-because that is how deep it got. No wonder Thumper Pond had to file 'chapter 13'.
