The chef has the reputation for preparing excellent food...but is also known to have less than desirable people skills. The food was good, but the berating of his staff is intolerable. Not a good combination.

While enjoying our meal or trying to enjoy our over sweetened food you could hear the chef screaming at one of the servers. When she came out I asked her what his problem was she stated it was because her shirt had a wrinkle in it. Not a welcoming place.

Hidden off the beaten track a couple of miles east of Park Rapids North Point is truely a hidden gem. Their lounge is quiet and very intimate... very open and lots of light. The dining room has a huge stone fireplace flanked by 20" pines and a very high vaulted ceiling. Acoustics are great as you can actually carry on a conversation (unlike many so called sports bars). Have dined there several times and have yet to be disappointed by food or service. They do seafood and steaks to perfection and this trip I enjoyed grilled duck breast on wild rice... extraordinary!!! Menu is a small book... great assortment of apps and entrees and if you want to compose your own entree they will oblige... you can order anything on the menu and mix and match. A bit spendy: on par or less than many metro resturaunts. It's one off those places as you leave you say to your partner: "spendy... let's make reservations tomorrow night". If you can make it Saturday night they have a guitarist/singer quietly doing ballads by the fireplace. Not loud... just great dinner music.
