We made a day trip to Itasca State park with our three kids (6,4 & 2).
We were afraid that we were going to have to cut our visit short because the kids were getting hungry and we assumed the only thing available would be snack machines or cheap hotdogs. Luckily we heard about the Douglas Lodge Inn. It was slightly overpriced for the quality of food but given how amazingly convenient it was it was a God send! I had the wild rice salad which was average but fresh and tasty. The waitress was good with the kids and the meal was served quickly. Again the location/convenience/view is what makes this a winner.
