I traveled with my husband and my three young children, my parents and my sister and her two kids. I chose to stay in the two-room suite with the balcony off the living room and it was well worth the extra money. The balcony is huge and has a great view and a lot of privacy. The other two rooms in our group were also very nice. The grounds are beautiful and the back area has a great area for kids to play - a playset, a ping pong table (you can get the paddles and balls at front desk), a fire pit (the front desk had marshmellow sticks also) and a grassy area where my kids kicked around a soccer ball. The breakfast area is also very nice, with a lot of tables, and there are tables where you can sit and eat outside. The hotel also has barbecues and a gazebo dining area. The pool, hot tub and sauna are very nice. The water in the pool was warm. The lobby was welcoming with a northwoods feeling and had two sitting areas and games you could play, including a nice chess table. The computer monitor was kind of old, but I only used it once, and the internet worked fine. The kids also liked looking at the large fish tank by the breakfast area. It looked like you could rent/check-out bikes, but we didn't have time to do that. All the staff were very nice and helpful. Overall, the amenities and little extras at this hotel were great. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again and recommend that large families or people who are willing to pay more for their room spend the extra money on the two-room suite with the balcony off the living room.

I've stayed here 5 times in the last couple of years. The beds are very comfortable. Theres a large room with pool, large, clan hot tub, sauna and poolside towels. They allow dogs with approval in selected rooms. If you don't have a dog there are rooms with fireplaces, jacuzzis, and balcony decks. I especially enjoy the beautiful grounds with red pines and a fire pit. It is next to an extensive bicycle trail.

Room Tip: A big variety of choices; there are upper level double rooms that have outside decks with a piney vi...

Had a short stay here this weekend and was pleasantly surprised!
Really just looking for a place to sleep, but found beautiful rooms, a nice pool/hot tub/sauna, and a great breakfast. All in a location close to all that the Brainerd Lakes area has to offer!

Extremely clean and quiet hotel. Better than some 5 stars we've stayed at. Husband grew up in Pequot Lakes and we were back home after 25 years to attend a funeral. Manager Rebecca was able to accomodate a special request for us last minute. Excellent hospitality. Our queen fireplace suite was immaculate. Housecleaning didn't come too early which allowed for us to not rush in the morning. The resort-like lodge is nestled in a quiet wooded area. The hotel lobby had soft music playing and immediately added to the hotel's ambiance. The breakfast was first class, and things were always neat and clean. We enjoyed watching the birds in the feeders every morning at breakfast during our three night stay there. If you're staying anywhere near the Brainerd/Baxter area, this would be the place to be. The facility was 100% smoke free too, which was a great big plus for us. One night we even enjoyed a movie rental from the hotel's large movie library. Our room had a VCR, fridge, microwave, and fireplace. We didn't get to use the indoor pool, but it was spacious and clean and shared a large windowed room with a whirlpool and sauna.

Room Tip: Try to book a suite if you can. The fireplace was perfect for those cool evenings. Well insulated r...

We stayed one night with our dog. Quick super friendly check in, clean room, laundry on site, and bike rental at front desk. Paul Bunyan trail is directly across the road. Saw beaver, fox, coyote and migrating Northern Flickers on my morning run on the trail. Excellent breakfast included.

Stayed here two nights in Sept 2011. Hotel is very nice, they have a variety of rooms. We ended up in a queen fireplace suite. The room was well appointed and spotless. The hotel location itself is very nice. Right next to a restaurant, movie theater and mini golf. The hotel grounds were beautiful and very spacious. Lots of room to roam outside. Beautiful patio to sit outside on and enjoy breakfast or a nice place to relax in the afternoon. Overall i would recommend this place to others.

Room Tip: Would recommend upgrading to a suite.
