When we arrived at the hotel there were cones blocking the entire entrance on each side. We drove through them to park. We waited about ten minutes before the girl at the front desk appeared. Another guest had to go "fetch" her from upstairs. We were checking in using points, so she didn't ask for an ID or credit card.
When we went upstairs to the second floor to our room we first took the stairs, there was a ton of water in the stairwell, huge puddles in the doorway. They're going through a remodel so all the room numbers were taken off the doors and placed on the floor. Some room numbers were missing so were just guessing on our room number. We tried the keys and neither of them worked. While going back to the front desk the elevators were taking their sweet time and construction workers were moving things through the elevators.
We got back to the front desk and the girl was not there...again. Another guest yelled out the front door for Brittany to come to the desk. The guest told her to put the cigarette out because someone needed her help.
We explained our keys didn't work so she told us she would reset them and go upstairs with us. She tried to open the door several times with each key and they still weren't working. She tried her keys several times and finally got the door open. Once inside the room we realized it was disgusting. It looked dirty, the bathroom wasn't cleaned, it didn't smell like it had been cleaned very well that day. The girl said she would try to fix the keys and come back. After about 20 minutes she hadn't returned so we decided to just leave and find another hotel.
Since she hadn't asked for my credit card I thought it was better to lose the points since we weren't being charged and pay something for a nicer hotel. When we left she was talking to another guest about her next smoke break and didn't say anything when we walked out.
The entire hotel was disgusting. We walked down the hall on each floor and the entire place smelled bad, too much trash and remodeling tools in the hallways. I understand they were going through a remodel but they could have cleaned up the place a little better and been a little nicer and accommodating than they were. Things were just weird. I wouldn't attempt to stay here again.
