“Great B&B with a Creaky Bed...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2012

We had a wonderful stay close to Downtown Red Wing, and the perfect distance from our home in the twin cities. This B&B was grand, clean, and very accommodating. Upon arriving was met by young women casually dressed who dropped everything to give us an informal tour of the home. She brought us to our room very politely and was perfectly accommodating to our needs. We booked the Gypsy room, which has a great vintage vibe with great antiques, grand wallpaper, and a whirlpool two person tub. I would say that if you come for romance, consider another room or accommodation. The bed was VERY creaky, so it was delicately said...distracting. Although, the private two-persons jet tub was wonderful, and very romantic. The included breakfast was divine, and the cook obviously took a lot of pride in the meal. It started with orange juice and water, a fruit starter, and then the best ham steak I’ve ever tasted and a sublime stuffed French toast. Overall, it was a wonderful stay well worth the visit for a quick getaway. Very hospitable staff!

Room Tip: Pick a room with a ensuite whirlpool tub!

We spent two nights to celebrate a birthday. Charming old house. Outstanding breakfasts (Mike takes care to honor special dietary requests). Lots to do in the area. We biked the Cannon Falls Trail, explored Red Wing and ventured to some neighboring cities for great dinners. It's a wonderful, relaxing place.

Room Tip: We had the Garden Suite--especially nice with the whirlpool separate from the bedroom.

My wife and I spent this past weekend at the Moondance for our 15th Anniversary. It was quiet and casual which is what we needed. Mike is a fantastic host, and is a full book of knowledge on the history of the Moondance. He was also able to serve gluten free ingredients which my diet required. Stand-up guy!

Thank you for your review. I'm glad I could provide you a gluten free breakfast. Per our conversation regarding your diet, it is easier to do today than it was a few years ago. We have not had a review where I was called a "stand up guy." I like that.

We so enjoyed our stay at the Guesthouse. It was the perfect place for group to feel at home while traveling. The bedrooms are unique and lovely, and the living space is warm.
A very pleasant walk from the town center. The 7 of us enjoyed our stay thoroughly and look forward to staying again! Our contact with the owners was pleasant and they were very accommodating.

We decided to try a B&B for our first time. We reserched alot of B&Bs online. We were looking for something more unique that had great accommodations than most B&Bs. After looking, We decided to book a room at Moondance Inn. It went beyond our expectations. The inkeeper was very nice and made us feel at home instantly. We stayed in the Gypsy room. It was very charming, with private bathroom and amazing two person whrilpool right in the room. The room had great detail. Good for romance or relaxation. The whole house is beautiful and appreciated. We were impressed with the breakfast served as well. We also liked how they serve complementary wine and appetizers early evening. Everything was great, We will definitely return again.

This was our second time back to the Moondance and each time it truly is a treat! The house is fantastic. Gorgeous and intimate, yet comfortable and casual . Chris & Mike are wonderful hosts and instantly make you feel at home. Each room has a very distinct character, with unique appointments and lots of nice little touches. Be sure to make some time to enjoy the large whirlpool tubs in each room, and then relax on the porch with a glass of wine afterwards. With great food, a stellar staff, and an atmosphere that just says "relax", it is a wonderful getaway, especially being so close to the Twin Cities. Highly recommended!!

Room Tip: The King's Room has the largest bed, but the Garden room is the most secluded.
