We had to move to a 2nd room as the first room had something in the toilet. I didn't know what it was but I flushed it. Also the underside of the lid looked like it needed a good wiping off. I requested the toilet be cleaned. The night clerk said no cleaning personnel was there and she had no idea what they used. Luckily there was another room available so she switched us. I just didn't feel the bathroom was very clean and checked over thoroughly if they left something in the toilet. However, the rest of the bathroom and bedroom did look OK.

The 2nd one was ok. The only dirty situation I saw was a black streak of mold on the floor by the toilet; the side that was facing the tub. I don't understand the motels having a mold problem when all they have to do is squirt some bleach on any black spots appearing. This strip though could use a cleaning with a brush as it was getting very noticeable. I wonder how much longer they will let that build up before someone cleans it.

The room was very small. One bed was very close to the window and under the window was the a/c and heating unit. The person lying on that side of that bed got a full blast of air just a couple of feet from him while the people in the other bed could barely feel the air. It is was right at the height of the person sleeping. We propped an extra pillow on the floor against half of the vent so air wouldn't blast the first bed.

The breakfast was a small variety of sweet rolls, cereals, coffee and juices. There was a waffle machine.
I believe there was some yogurt.

We stayed there a 2nd night as planned. I would stay again at this motel; would just hope they clean any mold as it appears. And hope the cleaning personnel would check the bathroom more thoroughly before leaving.

Our staff here at the Microtel appreciate that these issues have been brought to our attention. We deeply apologize that your stay was less than pleasant. The management have taken these issues and addressed them with the housekeeping staff. We are confident that our new procedures and policies will help to improve the hotel and will help to avoid any such issues in the future. Thank you for your helpful review and our deepest apologies go out to you.

For the price, it was a great value. Hotel 100% non-smoking and well-maintained. Free breakfast was a plus. Hotel staff small, but very helpful. (At one point, the desk clerk had to leave desk to go to a room and help with a maintenance problem) Rooms small, but that is expected. Location very convenient, not a long drive to Mayo. Lots of stores and restaurants in the immediate area. Will stay there again on next trip. Management very understanding with the need to change stay length with Mayo schedules.

We do indeed understand that every clinic visiting guest has a busy schedule and may sometimes have to extend their stay. We are always happy to assist and accomodate every guest to make sure their stay is the most pleasant. We have many guests that are very appreciative of our 100% non-smoking policy. Our staff is slightly small, we pride ourselves in knowing that we are all able to multi-task and solve issues efficiently and effectively. Thank you for a great review, we are happy to hear you will be staying with us again and look foward to seeing you!

If you are planning a visit to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and are considering motel accommodations, I highly recommend the Microtel Inn & Suites. (Hwy 52 N between 55th Street and 37th Street exits)
They offer a Mayo Clinic discount, ask for it when you make reservations. They participate in the Shuttle system, a wonderfully easy, comfortable way to travel back and forth to the clinics and hospitals. The rooms are modern, clean, and cozy with windows you can even sit in and look out. The complimentary continental breakfast offers so many choices, including hot waffles in a dining room with plenty of tables, chairs, TV, and newspaper. Free phone calls and internet will help you stay in touch. A work-out room, sitting area, and a computer is available for guest use. You can easily walk to a few restaurants and Target. The staff will treat you like family. You will find the Microtel in Rochester, MN to be a great value and a very nice place to stay.

Room Tip: Choose a cozy single queen size room or one of the suites, if you would like two separate sleeping choices, refrigerator, coffeemaker, sink, microwave, table and chairs.

What a great review!! Thank you so much for your very thoughtful and kind words. Our staff are professional and do tend to treat all of our guests like family. We love to welcome new guests and always enjoy seeing our regular guests. I don't think there is anything that this review doesn't mention, it describes our hotel just as our staff would describe it. We hope to see you in the future and thank you again!

This is almost perfect - great location, super clean, larger bathrooms, great customer service and very comfortable bed. Add to that a nice quick free breakfast, free shuttle to Mayo, free wi-fi, in a safe area with a restaurant next door. And it is a value at the rates charged compared to other hotels in the area. There are lower rates posted on their web site. Only drawback is that the rooms are not designed for more than 2 or 3.

Room Tip: there doesn't appear to be a bad room in the place.

Was staying in Rochester for a Mayo Clinic visit. This queen sized room was sufficient in size and comfort. It is located in a safe and convenient spot with many restaurants and a Super-Target nearby. We received the on line rate and when we needed to extend another day for further testing, the management gave us the same rate. We were on the second floor but they have an elevator that works well. There was no smoking on the premises which was nice. The breakfast was sufficient with waffles, oatmeal, juice, rolls, fresh fruit etc. Best of all the local shuttle runs hourly through the daytime hours to and from Mayo Clinic starting from early morning and it was never more than 5 minutes late so it was easy to make it on time for appoinments. Since Microtel was the first pick-up site, all had a seat on the shuttle. The room was clean with the exception of a moldy bottom to a shower curtain. The housekeeper apologized and promised to change it that day. Upon my return visit to the Mayo clinic, I will definitely stay at the Microtel.

It is great to hear such a pleasant response and we thank you for your kind words. Many of our guests have utilized the shuttle service to and from the clinic area and have been very pleased that we offer the service. They are also very relieved to know that we offer the shuttle free of charge. We are sorry to hear about the shower curtain and our housekeeping staff have addressed this issue to ensure that this is resolved. Thank you again for the wonderful review and we hope to see you again in the future!
