“Great food”
Reviewed 25 August 2013

Always a satisfying dining experience, great food and service. Ambience is not great but they have authentic ethiopian coffee, wine and beer and they play good african music. Rochester needs more exotic restaurants such as The Nile.

“First of its kind..I hope it works!”
Reviewed 29 January 2013

Nile restaurant has replaced the structure of previous Indian restaurant - Clay Oven. Given its location it remains in one of the less crowded areas of the city. Its predecessor died after starving for business. I hope this one thrives! Food presentation was very typical of an Ethiopian restaurant and server was friendly. Good tasting food.

Pros: first of its kind, reasonably priced, friendly atmosphere

Cons: ghost of Clay Oven haunts you when you visit this place, more workforce needed, geographically isolated from other restaurants

“Friendly server”
Reviewed 19 January 2013

We have been here several times in the last year. We usually order the combination platter. We were told they now serve it only on weekends. My wife countered with "But it's my birthday!" we were served two platters for five people. Delicious! In contrast to some restaurants, each table is supplied with plenty of paper napkins, needed when eating with fingers. Our server provided an interesting story of his journey from Ethiopia finally to Rochester.

“Flavors and friendship”
Reviewed 10 January 2013

With so many highly rated restaurants in this relatively tiny city, it was hard to pick which ones would get our attention during a two day stay. Fortunately, we used the last opening to explore Ethiopian flavors at Nile Restaurant, in a very simple strip center in the outskirts of Rochester, MN. It was a highlight of our trip and worth a detour to taste the well balanced spicy cuisine, served on a bed of buckwheat pancakes which serve as the eating utensil. I wish that we had more chances to order from this menu, which was both interesting and diverse. The gentleman who assisted us with our order was charming and helpful. If I lived in Rochester, this would be one of my regular stops.
