This hotel is nicely located for a very reasonable (1/2 mile) walk to Mayo Clinic - a real help in trying to relieve a little stress to and from Doctor's appointments. My only quibbles are that I live in the country, and having a room as close to the street as possible was not ideal for me, as street sounds are unusual to me. The wifi also went down during a video-chat session which was NOT helpful.

Continental breakfast was quite good. Choices of scrambled eggs, sausage, hard-boiled eggs and cereal. If I were rating solely on staff friendliness, it would get 5 stars.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the entrance/street if street noise is a bother.

Young girl on a long, friendly phone call, after which we were the first check-in for a new staff. Longest check in at a Marriott, especially for a gold rewards member. The room was what we expected, parking lot was congested.

I am a surgeon from London and I have just spent a month at the Mayo Clinic working in St Mary's Hospital.

This place was perfect. It is situated opposite St Mary's Hospital and if you need to get to the Mayo Clinic for outpatient appointments then shuttle buses run from right outside.

The rooms are all suites. The beds are comfortable and the rooms feel spacious. Each room has a desk to work at and a kitchenette to make simple meals or a cup of tea.

There is a small gym and swimming pool which was perfectly adequate for my needs - which involved a 5km run followed by a swim each morning (yeah I know ripped right...not!)

Anyway the staff are really friendly and always keen to help out. Breakfast is part of the deal and it is really good. Lots of variety and all healthy.

Staying here means you are only a short walk, or even shorter bus/shuttle ride to the centre of town. However Tonic is just next door and for healthy eating this place cannot be topped in Rochester. Good value as well.

Anyway remember if you have to stay for 30days or more you don't pay tax which can make a huge saving. They also seem to have very competitive deals.

Try this place for a night and you will stay the week.

TOP TIP: Ask for a room high up for absolute peace and quiet.

For my stay, it was a clean, spacious place that was very comfortable. Literally across the street from Mayo St. Mary's Hospital, I was able to walk to the hospital, and return late at night with no concerns. Add to that, the cold weather is a consideration in the winter, so being very close was helpful.

There are a pool and hot tub, which on weekdays is quiet and restful. While I was there, the weekends were full of youth athletes in town for tournaments, so it was more noisy.

The breakfast is actually pretty good, with eggs and sausage or bacon most mornings, as well as a full selection of cereals, muffins, waffles, etc.

Staff was extremely helpful, as I had a minor issue they helped me resolve.

Rooms were very clean, and have a fridge and microwave, which is adequate for a relatively short stay. My only complaint was the fridge didn't have a freezer, so keeping frozen foods was not possible.

If you are looking for the best place to stay close to St. Mary's and Mayo Clinic this is it! Springhill has been consistently clean and top notch for my family and I over the last 15 years as we trek to Rochester for healing! Be sure to ask for your clinic discount. The rooms have a couch, desk, sink, refrigerator and microwave.
If you are looking for a good meal, the Canadian Honker is close by and their food is great. Be sure to try their famous coconut layer cake!

Nice lady on evening shift; best part of my experience. Asked for a quiet room and placed on first floor at end of hall. Extremely noisy! Patrons yelling, etc. Headboard had handprints and smudges all over, hair in the tub, etc. The morning lady at the front desk was not very friendly; almost as if I were a bother. I didn't eat breakfast either morning; appeared dirty. One morning it was completely packed and "tweens" were walking around in their bare feet: Not something I want to see in the breakfast area of a hotel. Location was not too bad. A little cleaner facility and nice morning staff would make a big difference.

The hotel is right across the street from the hospital so very convenient. In good shape and rates include internet, breakfast and parking. Rooms are all spacious and have microwave, fridge, and coffee makers, along with working desks, sitting area/couch. Bed was very comfortable - thank goodness, as this was a last minute decision due to a hospital stay by a family member. Good space, nice quality and all the amenities needed.
