I love showing off our Cathedral. The cool quiet and soaring vault never fails to awe. If the organ is playing the effect is tripled. Housed within is the only full size copy of Michelangelo's Pieta (made with permission from the Vatican.) One can walk around the sculpture and see the details you can't see due to the security glassed enclosure that protects the original in Rome.

You will be totally blown away by the size of this cathedral. Do the self tour, unless you have time to take the tour. Catholics need to make this a pilgrimage, it will renew your faith in Christ.

Don't miss this building! You are at once in Europe and in Minnesota. The soaring interior could fit the Statue of Liberty inside! I would suggest that you get the self-guided tour booklet in the lower church when you enter (you have to turn right at the entrance and take the elevator down one flight to purchase it: $2, well worth it). This guide will take you around the building and will complete your enjoyment. The ambulatory around the altar gives a sort of ethnic hymn to the nations, featuring saints from various nationalities. This building is a national treasure and should not be missed on any trip to the Twin Cities.

We went to Italy for two weeks about a year ago. I would rank this cathedral with many of the fine churches we saw while we there.

I'm not religious, and I certainly not Catholic but I do enjoy these type of edifices for the art and historical significance. Behind the main alter is a walkway of various national saints that was very interesting. It has a magnificent dome and altar. It is definitely one of the major landmarks of St. Louis.

There is a small museum within the cathedral. The thing of interest in there was a replica of the original log cabin "cathedral" of St. Paul.

It is impressive on the inside and outside, and well worth a visit.

This is such a gorgeous, historic church. It's always a pleasure to step inside, it's like stepping into a European Cathedral. The peaceful and awe-inspiring space just has to be experienced to be believed.
